I actually laughed at that myself My original point still stands though, Thatcher of course had some strong policies, but I will agree that it was more people being fucked off with Labour in 79 that enabled her to get in.

I understand what mank is saying though. Although we do elect an MP and brown has been democraticly elected by his constituency. We voted for an MP in 2005 knowing who would be the party leader (supposedly for a full term), and who would be the one directing the policy ideas. This is now changing so I think there should be a reelection. The leader is important for the policy direction, as a lot of the time the MP's from that party follow the party lines regardless of what it is.

Of course throughout history this hasnt happened, just look at John Major, but theres no reason for things to stay the same.
