The Walcott decision...smacks of "I'm leaving after this World Cup so I can afford to take wierd chances". Its pretty bizarre tbh, although Wenger thinks he's the mutt's nuts. Ridiculous about Darren Bent, but I reckon Eriksson is thinking Owen/Joe Cole up front with Crouch as a sub to confuse, which isn't the worst strategy in the world.

I think there's enough quality in the side without Rooney (*sob*) to get through the group stages, but without that extra something, I can't see them going any further with this squad.

I have no problem with Theo going he is an absolute talent, think back to when Owen burst onto the scene he had only scored 1 goal for Liverpool, Walcott has Pace amazing balance and the ability to score goals. he is a perfect replacement for Owen because no one will know how to deal with him.

I have a problem with Jenas and Hargreaves and Sol Campbell, why the Hell Darren Bent is not even being talked about is ridiculous, it says something that you can be the top scoring Englishman in the season before the WC and not even get a look in. Jenas is not world class yet either. I am looking forward to Svens crap tactics.

Hargreaves is a good utlility player, and slightly more attacking minded than phil neville.

I don't think it's that bad a squad given the options. Can't say I'd want defoe or bent to go, they just don't cut it for me. Walcott could be interesting. I think Richardson should have been in the squad as well.

bent had a chance against uruguay and looked totally lost. twenty goals for charlton is a good achievement but it doesn't make him international quality. defoe however has shown his quality in the past and his season at spurs has only been hindered by keane's excellent form and jol's preference for a big man/little man strike combo.

Love it when people have no clue what they are talking about Phil Neville is not bad by any means.

However i will not call you a retard due to the fact your prediction sounds about right. It will be funny when the papers are saying were going to win it after we beat the crappiest team in our group.. like they have done for the past 3-4 world cups.

Whats wrong with him? he doesn't cause trouble he gets on the pitch and does his job very well.. hes not a star player hes a backup player and he does that well.

That was Euro 2000, when we were managed by the medias choice King Kev. TBH I think neville deserved to be banned permanently from international football from that point.

Onto the england squad, I have to say that it is a shocking squad esp with this new quote from the BBC.

Looks like hes picking a squad that will play 4-5-1 if not Owen + Rooney is 100% fit. Play with a defensive inner fielder and both Lampard and Gerrard in front of him and you have pretty ok attacking without 2 forwards.
