Have you actually tried to understand why people take pure pleasure when England gets knocked out?

here is a tip: its not because of the players...
here is another: its not because of the queen...
and yet another: its not because of the flag...
want another one: its not because of your so called imperium...

Its because of the supporters and the way they entertain us when they loose... English supporters dont always think they are the best and there must be an extra terrestrial reason for being knocked out. You dont know how to behave, thats the problem everytime you loose there are fights and problems, hooligans and violence all comes from the same country and then you blame the others? The only problems in Portugal during the Euro 2004 were caused by english supporters, the only problems in Germany 2006 were caused by english supporters. Portuguese comunities in England have been chased and beaten just for being portuguese, and supporting their country, and then you come here with morality tales? come on grow up, learn how to behave and earn yourselfs some respect, then people might start looking at you on another way, up until then i'm afraid everyone will take the piss everytime england is knocked out.

Have a nice day and a safe return home... you can watch the semi's on SKY Sports or BBC !! :p

You clearly haven't got a clue. If you knew the first thing about football you'd know that Holland, Germany , Italy, Poland, Turkey and France have all had "fans" cause trouble at those tournaments. And let's not forget the delightful Spanish habit of making monkey noises to black players (for which FIFA fined them the huge sum of £6000).

Here's a little story for you from THIS tournament. At the Cologne Fan-Fest on the day of the England-Sweden game there were 30,000 England fans inside. No arrests. There were however arrests outside - they took in German fans who were outside throwing bottles in over the fence to try and goad the English. There were 200 arrests when Germany played Poland. Strangely enough some of those arrested were Dutch too. Why? Because it was a pre-arranged ruck.

Unfortunately that doesn't make as good headlines as "English hooligans cause riot". So keep reading your newspapers and basing everything you know about football off what you see in the media. Those of us who actually go to matches and have done for years will base our views on reality. Yes there are idiots amongst the English. But so are there from every nationality.

let me give you a bit of the history now...

over 2000 british citizens were forbiden to travel to germany during the world cup because of previous violence history, still the german police have arrested over 300 british fans up until yesterday for violence, and this is when you havent lost yet... so trouble starts after.

ofc there are other nations with problems and violence in football, i could almost say there is no nation that has never got violence problems, but everywhere the english fans go, the always draw the biggest police presence... why would this be? have a guess!

Shut the fuck up for gods sake.
The 2000 fans you speak of are marked hooligans, some of them with convictions ranging back to the early 80's, we have cleaned our act up since then and CLEARLY are making steps to ensure these thugs don't travel to watch football.
Why do we attract the biggest police attention??? Ok I'll hazard a guess and say that we had 70,000 fans there.....The most from any nation what-so-ever.

You do know how many English have travelled to the games? On average there have been 60,000 English in the city at each England game. 30,000 inside and 30,000 outside. That's at every England game. And we've had 300 arrests (of which 99% were released without charge) - plus another 100 last night after the game. That's less than 1% of fans involved in trouble. So like I said , you clearly have no clue about the reality. Keep reading your papers and watching the t.v. and basing everything you know about football and the English on what you see there. The rest of us will deal in reality.

Your posts thus far seem to imply otherwise! Imperialism, sense of superiority, clueless comments about English fan violence all mentioned. For a Portuguese to mention/imply Imperialism with your own history is quite frankly beyond belief! Yet you claim to respec others, guess that must include us. Suggest you look up irony in the dictionary!

Proud to be British, YES! Such a crime? I don't think so. Your obviously proud to be Portuguese, fair enough. Good for you.

Respect for others? Can't answer for others but personally I've lived in four countries the in last 17 years - Chile, Oman, China and now Dubai. I've visited and worked in over 60 Countries. I have the greatest respect for people of all nationalities and in no way feel superior to anyone. I have many friends all over this planet of various nationalities. It doesn't stop me commenting on blatent cheats that spoil a great sport.

Get a clue..

In the real world, 100 arrests can happen after any match. The German police said about last night's "incident" (which was centred around one bar) that it was no different from a standard Bundesliga game. If you think that there were no arrests after matches involving other teams you are living in cloud cuckoo land. Ah but then again you haven't seen it on your t.v. so it didn't happen...

Well, just saying holland aren't the trouble makers:).

ofcourse, every country has some individuals who drank too much.. but Turkey and England... well lets just say, some of them know how use their fists xD

Give you a helpful tip. Go through police records of all major games in all major countries. Refering to merely their leagues. You will notice that there are a ton of arrests in various countries because of it. Germany being one of them as pointed out.

Why does it happen? People have a lot to drink to drown their dissappointment and someone makes a comment at them whcih kicks something off. And normally in a bar that will result in more of a brawl then anything so they just arrest everyone to be safe. If those people done anything wrong beyond being drunk and disordly (whihc is far different to fighting) then charges would have been placed on them. But it wasnt. To the Germans and most of the police forces around the world it would be deemed as a normal occasion as to what happens when you got 60'000+ people about drinking.

Look at Germany vs Poland, there was some serious shit after that match

But its ok, we are English, we are bound to go abroad and fight!1

Get rid of the fucking stereotype, we showed for the past 3 tournaments(one in your country) have passed without violence. Football hooliganism is so 20 years ago.

All those that did fight then now have kids and just want to watch the match with them

It is true though..
A while ago I was on a ventrilo server and someone there was complaining about the french insisting on speaking their language on the eurovision, opposed to speaking english. Well, I can't see the brits talking french there any time soon either, so I don't think there's much of a difference.

And ohw if you go by the argument that english is the most spoken language, let's all start talking mandarin now then :p
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_languages_by_number_of_native_speakers

It's easy to blame others for selfishness and self-superiority, but one should look in the mirror before doing so, and people of Great Britain generally spoken do have a feeling of superiority over other countries in some aspects.
