folks at my work wanted to be able to wear england shirts on days england was playing but were told no cos folks might think its racist? wtf?

u can get folks of all colours that were born here so r therefor english..u dont have to be white to be from england. so therefor how can folks that are from here get offended by it? an if folks that arent from here(say tourist/immigrant etc)get offended by the national flag/football team/name of the country they are visiting then perhaps thats their own fault for coming here? i mean i wouldnt go watch a movie about a psycho serial killer that mutilates their victims an then say i was offended by scenes of violence. u just wouldnt go watch it if u didnt like that sort of thing...

england is a place tho. not a colour of people. so supporting england is supporting a place. hence why folks that arent even from a particular country can support anothers football team. how can u get offended by the place u live? why is a country offensive?

Urm, yes you are. Your birth certificate determines your nationality.

You may very well come from a Chinese family and grow up and follow Chinese traditions etc, but at the end of the day, you weren't born in China so your birth country and country of origin is England.

What has Britain got to do with anything? We're talking about English. Although to explain further.

People born in England are English, people born in Wales are Welsh, people born in Scotland are Scottish, people born in Northern Ireland are Northern Irish.

People born in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland are ALL British because those four countries make up the Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
