I think we'll beat Brazil:

1) They're a good attacking side but their defence is about as watertight as a pair of fishnet stockings - as proved by Costa Rica.

2) They've not really had to play quality opposition.

3) Rio Ferdinand has a good shout for player of the tournament at the moment - our defence is looking very good (as long as Mills stays clean and Ashley Cole doesn't make any errors). Sol's looking solid too.

4) With the attacking players we have I can't see any reason why we can't score a panfull - and with our defence we can make sure our goal tally is higher.

As for scoreline predictions?

It'll either be a goalfest or a barren game - but we'll beat them:

1-0 to England or 4-3 to England......

Or, of course, I could be talking shite :)

IMHO
I think england will come out of this game as the winners, WHY?

1. Well Brazil atm have a dodgy defensegoing on and we seem to be able to break through onteams lately.
2. There attack is fast as we all know but they are lacking the old Brazil flair and finishing we all know , and Englands defence is on fire! RIO goooo RIO.

Anyways i think it will be 1-0 to England Have faith lads and lasses i think thistime we may bring home the goods :D

In my heart, I'm going along with Scouse's previous hypothesis, that Brazil are a bunch of spawny cunts, and although England will play a deservedly better game, Brazil will win through luck and disputable gameplay.

I'll still be cheering for an England win, I'll be ambitious and my dead brain says 3-1.

I think if we can close down Ronaldo et al quick enough, we should be ok. The game against Belgium proved that they can make something out of nothing, and Ronaldo is incredibly fast and powerful - if ever there was a time for Ferdinand to earn his money, it's vs Brazil. But I honestly think we can win it.

And they're not going to, either.

Don't forget that Brasil had a struggle to qualify from their South American qualifiers (Argentina were far far better) and have yet to come across any quality opposition so far this world cup.

They struggled against Turkey and (as mentioned elsewhere) were very lucky against a poor Belgium team.

I can see England beating them more convincingly than they beat the Argies.

Ronaldo is at the top of his game now, and hes getting fitter and faster in every game... :(

Thing is, Brazil don't care about defence - they play a lot like a College team, everyone wants a piece of the action. Get Brazil on the counter-attack and you've got a chance, but we have to take it. If we squander too many chances against Brazil we'll get punished. :( Brazil work on the principal that if the opposition score 2, they'll score 3.. and they've got the talent to do it.

I reckon if we beat Brazil we're on the home straight, especially with Italy out.

I agree with yeh there we need to take every oppurtunity we have or we will regret it. Yes they are a very attacking team brazil as you say and also i agree that, quick breaks are more than likely were we will get our goals from.

home straight with italy out? dont think so

this may sound silly but i reckon south korea are favourites for this tournament. With the crowd behind them they are amazing.

The thing is, some of you seem to think we'll have it easy if (and it's a huge IF) we beat Brazil. Where in fact, the other teams that have progressed this far, have done so because they are "good teams"

So remember kids, faith is good, but we're going to lose. Especially if it goes to penalties. (which I fear it may do after 90mins of 0 - 0)

Brazil has a better attacking side then England, but England is much more balanced as a team.
All I hope is that it is going to be a nice match to view.

Official game time, even if a player scores during injury time after 90 minutes, it is recorded as 90 minutes, time effectively stops for FIFA.

He said INJURY time mellow, not extra time. It's classified as 90-120 minutes in official timekeeping.

Oh yes, it's going to be nervewracking alright. I agree though, should be worth getting up for, unlike the Nigeria game.
