End of PBAE exp groups?

- Monsters being attacked by multiple casters using area of effect spells will no longer share aggro among the casters' group, but will instead treat them as regular spells.

This is currently on the US test server.
I'm curious if this only applies to normal AE-damage spells or PBAE-damage spells as well?

If so this could well spell the end of pbae-based exp groups.

AOE

Not PBAE!

And if it is (which i doubt) pbae too then it is not good!

There is a difference btw PBAoE and AoE. Two different things ingame and the Notes clearly say >AoE< and not pbaoe.

PBaoe... are still AOE...just done at point blank range and needing no target...thats the only difference afaik

and the note clearly says "casters using area of effect spells blah blah"

so to me...that includes PBAOE spells, as they are AOE spells ;)

Maybe instead of wild speculation, someone with an account on pendragon could actually test this...
Just a thought.

Actually there could be kinda a reverse way of testing this.

Me using ranged ae spell for crap damage lots of little mobs running towards me and kills me.

Me using pbae spell with shitloads of damage, the random mob might take a swing, mob dies.

So as i see it ranged ae spells have always given me the full agro, espececially considering me being futher away and all.

But then i could be totally wrong, i almost always wrong anyways.

From my experience AE-nukes haven't shared aggro among the group so far (or very little if they have) and PBAE was changed to share it when they realized how needed it is because of the nature of the spell (you have stand in middle of mobs to damage them). If this change doesn't affect PBAE I have no idea what it could change then Oo Easily tested btw, just cast one AE-nuke before PBAEing and you should get aggro from non-taunted mobs whereas when just starting PBAEing you usually dont get aggro at all. I've flu so probably made no sense at all :p

apparently it doesn't affect any pbaoe group with tanks - maybe it's just the focus pet and pbaoe pulling or something?

What do they mean with the change anyway?

If you PBAOE a mob you get a certain amount of aggro anyway, no? Or are they trying to say PBAOE doesn't put aggro on you atm but shares it over the entire grp?

As for how things are now PBAE shares the aggro among the group (yes, PBAEr gets aggro too) and the question here is that will it get changed and therefore make PBAE kinda useless in PvE (tons of damage -> insane aggro with standard aggro-rules).

AoE = area of effect
PBAOE = point blank area of effect

they are both classed as AOE spells - get that into your head, you tard !!

I think key words in this message are "multiple casters". So, so far as you have only one PBAEr in your group it should be ok. When you have two of them you are running into big trouble. It really sounds like the end of pure pbae groups. Balanced group will do fine in any case.

As for AOE/PBAOE topic, come on guys, aggro from normal AOE never was shared among group members, at least in noticable way - just look how often Fire Wizzies die. :)
