Enchanting?

i heard that its possible for a spellcrafter to 'enchant' an object, i.e. do the same function as the NPC enchanter does (i.e. add bonus % to the weapon)

can anyone confirm this? and if it is possible, how is it done :)

ta in advance :x

Never tested it myself, but there you go.

Not allowed to post it as a url, 'New user', just stick http:// before it and your set. And it's supposedly cheaper than the NPC enchanters.

I've heared some weird rapports about not getting the full bonus % if the SCer ain't high enough. So I rather keep with the Enchanter or the Buyable Enchanter.

Theres a cap on maximum bouns %age a SCer can put on an item based on their current skill.

Not certain exactly how it works - but no big deal. A 1000+ SCer has no problem putting the full 35% bonus on lvl51 items.

Its more hassle than using NPC enchanters, but if you keep a note of the enchant price (or better the dusts required for max bonus) it doesnt take too long. The saving on a full suit of lvl51 gear is worth the effort.

right, i done my mincers full set of armour last night for a bit of experience, and for those looking for a quick summary of how to go about it without reading that rather large linked thread, heres how it goes:

the total cost to enchant a specific item is dependant on the items cost to make. quality doesnt matter, neither does DPS or AF.

first thing you do is find out how much it costs an NPC enchanter to enchant the object in question. take a note of this value and multiply by 55%, and for safety, round up the value to the nearest gold/silver piece depending on what level the item is.

you then pretty much know how much it will cost for a spellcrafter to enchant the item instead of the NPC.

Enchanting:

go to the merchant that has the dust on it (an alchemy merchant, same page as the alchemy recharge potions on it), and purchase dusts equal to in value of the cost you figured out previously. note that you can buy as many dusts as required for the enchant, and imbue them as many times as you want.

different levels of dust will have different prices. Its good practise to buy a large one that is equal to or less than the total enchant price, and then buy smaller denominations successivly progressing smaller until the cost of all dusts you have purchased is equal to the cost to enchant.

e.g:

The NPC says that an AF102 armour tunic costs 150g to enchant.

150* 55% = 82.5g == 83g.

So the cost for a spellcrafter to enchant is 83g to a very near approximation.

1 platinum encorcelled dust = 78g 73s 21c
1 golden encorcelled dust = 5g 76s 1c

Total = 84g 49s 22c

these two items SHOULD give the item the full 35% bonus.

i did have one item that ended up on 34% bonus, but all you need to do in this case is just buy a smaller dust with a relevant value and imbue it onto the armour to bring the value up to 35%
bear in mind that you can imbue dusts to an item as many times as you want.

im sure there are people out there that can narrow the cost value down to the nearest silver or copper if they wanted to, but this method worked great for me, so hope this helps any of you who want to try it :)

Slight variation on this, do the house merchs such as enchanter (I presume you can get one) still offer the 25% discount of enchanting that other Merchs do such as Healers etc..
