Just found a webby which has details for the EMotion FX 2 engine mythic will be using for there expansion Catacombs due end of the year. This may be old news to some but omfg i cant wait to get a glimps of Norse babes and Briton biatch's.

Models are a hell of alot more detailed and allow full motion capture animation :D

Just please for the love of god dont do what Linage did with its female models.

Nothing is better at distracting you from the game than a pair of 36 DD breasts flapping out when fighting ;p

If they going to increase polygons in character models ect.

How the feck are you going to do big raids ect?
On the top of the line computer i played daoc on, my fps would drop alot, once lots of characters entered the same area.

It be a fecking Nightmare, and mythic should be doing more pvp expansions ect.
I know frontiers will be out soon, but then we have yet anuther pve expansion.

I wouldent really care if daoc pve was not so tedious, most of the pve areas are empty anyway, apart from the hot spots. this will just make it even more empty in areas.

The Emotion FX 2 engine is optimised for DX9 support which means even with the higher poly counts a modern system will have no trouble at all with it.

Think of the poor guys with there Athlon/P3/P4 low end systems and naff gfx cards. If this new expansion turns out to be a must have product because it fubars the balance again it means i`ll have to spend some money /cry

Heh. Well, games often try to use a technique that decreases the amount of polys used on a character depending on the distance.

Now, chances are that this technique is actually well implemented because they're using 3rd party software. So, it shouldn't be much of a problem. The only reason why 100+ on your screen currently brings mid-range PCs to their knees because DAoC is just sloppy with the texture management. When watching a mid zerg from APK, I see that DAoC loads up an extra 300~450 MB of textures. That's just wrong. I think that it does cache textures, I think that it caches characters.

Even if every hib would be wearing the same pants (do hibs wear pants?), that same texture is being cached for every hib in that zone. It seems to do that, but mind, I never verified this. So I'm really pulling this out of my ass but it does seem a plausible explanation.

why do they always feel the need to use scantily clad girlies to advertise their gaming whatnots?
