tbh they aren’t far from the truth

Its really have stuff that they are singing though!!1!

Like : Oh, don't mind me, I'm watching you two from the closet
Wishing to be the friction in your jeans

Oh that’s such wonderful lyrics reminds me off the heavy lyrics from spice girls!

soft rock with a heavy dash of emo in it shrug. whinging teenagers singing (if u can call it singing) about how they play around with drugs, hate there parents/world/the way they look, mate like rabbits and pretend to be inteligent, or should i say know it all wanabees? emo really is the class of people who wish they could be normal!

having had the revolting expeirence of being in a store with the music blutering out, i can safely say the experience was on par to listening to ure average hot chick in the bar speak. Both require you to get up and leave :)

if thats called music i dont know what the world is comming to =_= whats next dogs barking to bethoven? wait thats a good idea!

What really pisses me off more then crappy pop is all this whining emo music which wants to be 'rock' music but is in fact just pop with distortion and stupid shite lyrics about paper cuts and how bad the world is. This and 'NU metal' are what really get on my tits.

The worst part about it is peoples misinterpretations of what metal and rock are. Bands like linkin park, papa roach or whatever other tripe there is at the moment give real metal and rock a bad image because people scratch the commercial face of the genre and hate it, thus basing their future opinions purely on that shite.

It's such a misinformed world we live in

Yeah it's nearly as sad as not likeing stuff thats influenced by rock/metal that isn't rock/metal, just cos it's in the same genre but not the same. (that made sense in my head so it must be a good sentence) :p

Those bands you quote grew up on the whole rock rap crossover, i bet they have Rap and Rock/Metal in their collections. So they like both and play accordingly and im sure they don't care what old skool whiners like u think :p

It's NOT the same genre. It's like linking classical music with jazz just because of their closely nit ties to 'purist' scales.

I dislike NU metal because it does my head in when bands advertise themselves as something they're not (heavy metal in this case). They end up giving the actual talented bands of the genre a bad name purely because they have the larger commerical face. Songs by bands such as those I listed before are just a case of powerchord here, powerchord there, job done. It's no different to pop music in a technical respect. Heres your song mr. producer, it's about our agony derived from PAPER CUTS! Please sign us or we'll methaphorically cut ourselves.

Not to say I don't like simple songs in the world but for a band to be so 2 dimensional lyrically and technically, it's an insult to music.

Where I would be called a 'metaller' by most people, the vast majority of my friends aren't. I've grown up as a very significant minority but the way I see it is that if I like something, I like it and there is nothing I can do about it. The one thing I pride myself in music is my broad taste, so for someone to label me as an 'old skool whiner' is a blatent insult. My musical influence has absolutely nothing to do with disliking it 'just because of what it is'. The emo dribble should just face up to what it is. It's pop with a bit of distortion and different lyrics.

p.s. I'm pretty sure anyone who doesnt talk to me/you or read these boards cares what I/you think as they've not heard us talking so where really lies the point of that last statement?
