Emain.

I have ventured many times into Emain, and every time I have had a rapid death, each time death came not through being out skilled, but for being outnumbered.

Six times out of ten I might even get past MMG, three more times I might make it to AMG, and one time I might make it back to MMG, I never made a second run.

I would say I spend more time on the Svasud Pad waiting to port to, than actually in Emain. I normally re-die about 20 seconds after my rez sickness has worn off.

I calculated that us Mids (when I was there) was giving the other realms, in particular the Albions substantially more realm points than I was getting. So I a Mid was helping an Alb get IP, umm.

I then noticed the Albions had our strength relic, were keeping people out for Dodens, and the Hibernians were keeping hold of DF.

This seems odd to me, is it true that Midgards prefer to get a few real points, give the Albs loads of Realm points, than to go into Albion steal a keep or take a relic?

If it wasn’t for the likes of Rauthan and Co, Midgard wouldn’t have DF as much as it does and this is sad.

I thought the point to the game was for a realm to try and obtain all six relics; it seems to me that most Midgard players play DAoC as they would Counter Strike and try to gain as many kills as possible irrespective of enabling their team to win. Why are we so selfish? Why do we let RP’s dictate how we play the game? Isn’t it more challenging to go for keeps and relics than potter backwards and forward MMG ->AMG in emain?

Why do people congratulate each other for getting a new RR rank? I mean big deal, I'd rather congratulate someone who organised taking three keeps that enabled Mids to keep DF for most of the Weekend! (Congratz whichever mid that was!!!!!). Or organised a Relic Raid, a legion hunt, a wow hunt etc, these are the real hero's, I salute you!

When people leveled was it always the thought of going to Emain that kept you going? For me it was the dream of lifting an Albion relic.

If we must play the Emain game? Why don’t we at least do it properly? Nine times out of ten there is no chat group, groups don’t stick together. When we 4fg get beaten by 6fg why do we all port back to get beaten by the same group again? Why don’t we wait for more mids? Must we fight like lemmings?

Are my experiences of Emain just unique to me, anyone else feeling the same way?

<Please don’t flame, grown up discussion wanted :) >

I agree with xajorkith. We should be more co-operative when Mids are RvR-ing.

I tend to agree with your, mids heros are the ppl who try and organise stuff for all to enjoy, and not those who hold the highest RR.

Keep taking is great, as for relic raiding, well the bad news is that the new design of the guards, corpse summoner and relic defence deems it virtually impossible to even attempt such an event, and holding 6 relics means your realm will be under constant attack, leaving little time for most than pure RvR.

Lets see how the roll of SI comes on, maybe this will change a few things, who knows.

As for Emain...stay away m8, Odins has been a great comfort to those who prefer to avoid the zerg in favour of pure fun :)

I've yet to actually do RvR with SI (yeah, finally got it activated. Go me!!) but i've been lag free in PvP atm.

With any luck we'l then get hundreds of people on all sides to do relic taking/defense with very little lag. Who knows maybe the future of relics raids will be

'We're going to make an attack on Grall at 1730 hours CET, stop us if you can'

Lets hope the people that organise these things (I'm not one of them i'm sad to say, just not the sort of guy that enjoys leading people) will see the benafits of bringing hundreds of people (this will un-doubtably lead to some very heavy 'Mid's zerged our relic, lame' posts, from the sore losers in each realm)

But i digress, yeah emain isn't too much fun for me unless its a guild group (which would certainly explain my pitiful RP count  ) or your in a large well organised (emphesis on this bit, because usually emain is totally directionless) force and you meet an equally well organised force. This has only happened once for me but large scale battles (not zerg free-for-alls) are just as much fun i think as 1fg vs 1fg (more people for me to hide behind ;))

Couldn't agree more, Xaj, probably another reason why people stick to Thidranki, although last time I was there, it was almost like a mini-Emain anyway...

Yup, my guild find it hard to get anything done in RvR due to being A: small in number and B: not in an alliance due to being small in number. When we go out to the frontiers - which is rare, now - we do OK, but the only option seems to be camp Sauvage/Go to Emain/Go to Odin's (which is getting like emain in numbers now), or just run blindly through the frontiers and hope that we don't run into a keep taking force.

We have about 1fg of RvR viable characters, with very little new blood at the bottom end of the levelling scale. Are we destined to be excluded from all big RvR events - Legion, Keep/Relic, Summoner, whatever - or is there some hope at all beyond Emain or Odin's Gate and praying we get a tiny sprinkling of RPs and a good time out of it?

I'll give you credit by what you said that you're an itelligent person.

But please do not stereotype Albion as the 'OMFG WE ZERG AND OWNED U!!' people. My guild in particular is rather against zerging (though we do it when we have no choice, when 3fgs+ are camping amg, which is NOT a rare occurance).

I agree with you that zerging should be strongly discouraged, but I have to disagree with you on one thing: saying that mids don't zerg, and if they do, it's rarely.

Most of my time eating grass in emain is because of hibs, but Mid has a very fair share of my rps as well. You guys zerg just as badly, if not worse sometimes.

Overall I agree with you though.

I found out there are a huge number of people who feel RvR is about Relics and Keeps and I met most of them in Forest Sauvage today :)
