Hail Fellow Players!

What a night! There was some really big action last night in Emain at the mid MG.
Taking a look at the boards I now see what you were up to! At least we made some of you Middies and Albs munch some grass before you went for our keeps.
I had been waiting a long time for this, but finally I was able to engage a player from an enemy realm and score my first one-to-one kill without the help of a fellow realmmate. And the best thing is only seconds later another one followed. Here’s my story:

Our guild, or better some of our elder guildmembers were conducting a guided tour through Emain for the members with less experience in the frontier. We were about twelve people within a level range from the low tens to the low 40s. First we fought some mobs and visited some deserted keeps. Then we moved on to the mid MG. The main part of our small expeditionary force was hiding behind some trees and our master Ranger went to the fort to take a look around. He spotted a few Albs on the road and we decided to visit them. So we ran down the road and found out somebody had killed them already. Only some corpses were lying around. We had just moved a few paces away from the road and were standing in the open field, when all of a sudden a huge Albion army (at least 30 people) rushed by. We stood there amazed and watched them run past us. One alb approached and bowed to us, when all of a sudden all hell broke loose. It’s like in “Saving Private Ryan”; obviously some nervous alb had pulled the trigger and I got hit by a bolt. Suddenly all of us were in combat mode.
It was my sixth RVR encounter and I had learned the hard way that standing still results in swift death. As the main body of the Alb army was running SE I moved NW, passing the stretched line of Albs until I got to the end of the queue. The last man in the Alb army was an Avalonian Guardian named Cryptonite. When I ran past him he was just about to cast, facing my guild brethren. Well, he conned red ++ to me, but I knew I could at last interrupt his casting. So I wielded my blade and cut him nice. He immediately knew he was in trouble and my impression was that this had not been his first RVR encounter, as he started to run in zig zag course and suddenly he hit the speed button. I could not home another hit while he was running. I sheathed my blade and threw a snare (slow spell) on him. Luckily (for me) it stuck. I was closing in, but he was smart and played his last joker. He found a mob conning neutral and ran towards that mob. Nice try, but the mob was neutral to me too, to bad for Cryptonite. I caught up, threw my debuffs on him and started whacking him. He tried to cast, but I had chosen a very fast blade (does less dmg per swing though) which interrupted him. Now comes the funny part: All of a sudden a yellow conning Kobold with a pet appeared out of nowhere. The Kobold watched us fight. I was able to deal the final blow to Cryptonite and was just about to bow to his corpse, when the Kobold made his move. Fortunately I had enough power left to debuff the Kobold and some endurance to hit him with my styles. Again fortunate me as the Kobold had chosen to melee me rather than stand away and send in his pet only. My health bar was about 90% or so (because of the first nuke) when the fight with the Kobold and his pet started and it dropped fast during that fight. I was the lucky survivor though, with about 10% health, no endurance and no power. I bowed to the two corpses I had just produced and ran off, uphill. Chasing Cryptonite had separated me from my buddies who had gone into the other direction, and I was sure either Cryptonite or the Kobold (sorry mate I don’t remember your name, it was a long and complicated one) would call a rezzer with escorts for help. So I moved up the hill and found some purp mobs which were neutral to me behind some trees. Perfect place to rest and regain health, endurance and power.
As soon as health was up to 80% again I started to move as I wanted to reunite with my group again. All of a sudden it was “Fump” and an arrow was sticking in my back. I turned around and “fump”, No.2. I got nervous and hit the face key. Orange kobold (I’m so bad with names, I apologize; I think it was Nid or something similar). And then I fumbled big time. I wanted to hit the engage button, but I took the wrong one (guard I think) and the next arrow finished me. The Kobold came out of his hiding to take a look at my corpse, but my Ranger pal Gaian avenged me only few seconds after my death. My buddies had come for me and I was ressed by Quirina. We wanted to move when all of a sudden someone spotted three middies down on the road. I was still ress sick and weak, but of course I helped finish these three middies off. As we had superiority in numbers as well as in levels (for me it was two blue trolls and one yellow norseman) we finished them quickly. We walked around a bit and saw some single but high level albs rush by, but none wanted to engage in some fighting. I’m sure there was an Alb keep raid the moment I had seen their main force and so it seemed logical that some stragglers were trying to get to the main force as fast as possible.
Well we camped there when I saw a message that one of ours had been killed by Thing. I turned around and saw a dead body. Further away I saw a purple troll and some more middies a bit further back. I wanted to take a look at them, when I was hit by a lighning. It left me with some life though, so I sprinted back into the forrest. My buddies though were being slaughtered, so after a short rest I decided I’d charge too. I outflanked the middies and saw that there was a red norseman and tried to run to him when I saw a Kobold archer aiming at me. I threw a blast at him, hoping to interrupt him. Hehe I was targeting King Thing himself! Of course he resisted the blast and shot me, but I was even able to close in and land two hits on him! God did I hurt him! “you hit Thing for 4 (-1) damage!” “You hit Thing for 12 (-4) damage”. Needless to say he finished me pretty quickly.
Well anyway it was late in the night (I’m on CET) and most of my buddies had decided to release, so I took Thing’s offer for a ticket back to the last bind point.
This was my best DAOC night so far and I want to thank all who participated. I had never seen so much action in one spot and it was nice to see players of all three realms doing their best.
Thanks again, I bow to you.

I haven't read it since it's far too long and wordy, but glad you enjoyed yourself.

A group of us had been patrrolling ermain most of the afternoon and early evening and had great fun until we ran into a mid raiding party and were promptly wiped out. I seem to recall someone saying "Lets gank them from behind" but yet again the mids had failed to read the script...
