I'm sure this has probably been asked before but..

Can you all tell me what Windows email clients you are all using other than Outlook Express. Thanks.

I ask as Jonty hasn't included one in his otherwise exellent programs/drivers thread.

Cheers

Legginton.

Hi leggy

Email clients aren't really in too higher a demand, hence their exclusion from the drivers and utilities thread (although if people want a new section, please say).

Anyway, Outlook and Outlook Express dominate the market, and they are genuinely good applications (the forthcoming Outlook 2003 looks like it should be something special). I've heard good things about Mozilla's Thunderbird mail client, but it's still in its infancy. Opera's integrated M2 email client isn't supposed to be bad either.

If you query your favourite search engine you should also find a great many dedicated email clients, but to be honest, Microsoft's solutions suit most people's needs.

Kind Regards

netscape mail really isnt bad...its not as polished as oe, but ime, the address book is easier to use...otherwise pretty similar.

At work we use pegasus...mainly because we have to....its ugly, cumbersome, non of microsoft's programs will link to it, but it isnt as prone to viruses as oe, so your address book is safe. I believe it can use pop3, and I can access it at home using citrix.

/My two penneth :D

I use OE, does that make me a bad person? I genuinely feel it's the nicest mail client around as well as being decent for plain text newsgroup use.

I use full blown Outlook 2000. I actually organised myself when I went to uni, so it all gets used (apart from the Journal, which I can't find a decent use for yet...).

I have Cloudmark Spamnet plugged in too to clean up all the spam :)

Just out of interest, would anyone like an email clients section on the Drivers and Utilities thread? I personally doubt it would be used too much, but I'm sure that could be said of quite a few entries in there. Anyway, just say if you'd like one, as it is there for your benefit (or if you have any other suggestions, just shout).

Kind Regards

It doesn't appear that it would be much use Jonty.

There are plenty of clients available but none of them seem to be better then OE. Plus most people use OE anyway it seems.

Yeah, that's I was thinking too, leggy (great minds . . . :D). hehe, not to worry, though, it's probably best the list doesn't get excessively crowded.

No, you being a bad person makes you a bad person. OE is fine, though in my experience on various machines it can tend to get bogged down on lower spec systems. A spinky little e-mail client I found ages ago called Kaufman's Mail Warrior might be something you guys find suitable if you like OE.
