well i thought that they played alot better than the spanish who put on a display of negative football throughout the second half and extra time. obviously ireland lost on penalties so its spains win, but ireland played better football.

naw...imo spain played the better game, defensively and offensively...they constantly stopped most of the attacks, and they had a lot of incursions into the irish side..
I felt that roy keane could have sometimes given the ball to someone else sometimes, instead of taking shots himself, but he seems to come across as a self glorifying kinda guy anyway :/

Roy would have had problems passing all the way from the uk ;-)

Spain showed no heart they took their two strikers off to play for a 1-0 win and almost payed the price.

Ireland played great posession football and just had the luck running against them when it came to shooting.

I think in the end it was the shock of doing so well that undid the Irish boys, they seemed to lack the confidence to actually go the last 5 yards.

I'm spanish

I want to say to all of irish one thing:
It's really a loss for this world cup to have you out. I really have liked the football you have played, and I was sad when you finished on 2nd position in your group, cos I knew it was spain or ireland for quarters.
And about the match, really you played it well, but our match was nearly epic, with you launching an attack after another, and with us falling in one offside after another, it was really a good match. After that, Camacho changed Morientes by Albelda, that was to stop you from attacking all time, and then raul fell injured, and we had to make the last change forced. And what about extra time? well, it was a heart attack extra time, we were playing with 9 players, Albelda couldn't come to play, and in the first part of the extra Luis Enrique was injured too, but with no changes left, he had to stay. And then penalties, and then saint Iker Casillas, it was great, almost here.
So as we said here, we have played as ever, and we have win as never.
Sorry by crossing with you, next time perhaps you win. It was just a lucky day for us. And It was really a great match.

In footy you can play a great passing game but if you don't have the finishers to complete the job you are nothing. How many Irish missed the penalities? Alot.

You snooze you loose.

What a shame

Is incredible to see a referee sell a match in a world cup quarter final match. I'm really scared of how fifa can allow this, if kores continues buying matches, they'll be champions. I can't believe how is it possible. It's a shame, simply a shame. Germans, be carefull, I hope you score 6 or 7 goals to these cheaters.
