Elusive Epics.. :/

Ive been level 60 for quite some time and since im a warrior ive been gathering all my tanking gear to start places like Molten Core / Onyxia.

Ive got 90% of all the stuff i want... Whats missing you say? oh... only about 2 or 3 items, which happen to be quests in getting them.

Lets start with the all-joyous Forors Compendium of Dragonslaying, an Epic book which drops in Dire Maul, the end result is killing Onyxia and getting the world famous Quel'Serrar sword.

Ive been farming Dire Maul since i was able too (About 5 months now...) not necessarily ALWAYS for the Book, but for extra items to help along the way - Have i ever seen the book drop? No. This is quite astounding to be honest, ive been reading up recently on how Blizzard keep nerfing the drop rate, to a point that the first boss in Dire Maul North has been removed from the actual loot table with it, which i guess is fair.

Then, i believe during the 1.8 patch, Blizzard "accidentally" removed the book from the "Dusty Tomes" you see lying about, and forgot to put them back. Im now at the point where i dont know where this book actually drops from, or who. Its always a "Oh, well ive done 500+ Dire Maul runs and not found it yet" or "Wow, ive only ever done 4 runs and i have it!".

Another one, which is causing major annoyance, is the Chromatic Carapace, ive done way more runs in UBRS than i have in Dire Maul - and admittedly seen it drop once, near the very beginning when i was really only farming for Valor stuff, but im past that now. Past few months once again, nothing not one thing... Quel'Serrar of course bugs me the most, because it is so nice.

People tell me why do i want it.. But i dont want any of the MC ones (yet?) or the one from Zul'Gurub.. that sword has been in the game since i started, and seen all the great players wielding it, i want to actually have my chance at getting it now, but all Blizzard do is keep destroying the Warrior.

They raised the drop rate on some of the other Epic quests, like the Eye of whatever it was for Priests (Shadows?) and done everything else... but Warriors and Paladins aint getting a look in, someone said these arent exactly "Epic" items, but more "Luck" items, which im starting to believe in now... :/

You didn't hear the entire story then about the Eye. As it was bugged at some point and dropped at 5% instead of 0.5%. This why a lot of big guilds were farming it like mad. And now they got most of their priests equipped with the staff and now you hardly meet people there. It has been put back to 0.5% (+/- normal epic droprate). It's all about luck to be honest.

There's plenty of other good stuff around then the "old" epics.

I wouldn't worry about perfect gear before starting MC, stuff like Quel'Serrar and Breastplate of the Chromatic Flight are not needed. Spineshatter, Bloodlord's Defender or Fiery Retributor are quite comparable to Quel'Serrar anyway. If you consider a passive effect vs proc rate and duration etc.

Aim to get the Overlord Ring set, Aegis of the Blood God, Bloodlord's Defender and some of the Bloodsoul set, namely the boots and perhaps the shoulders. Wouldn't 'waste' time on non raid stuff really if you have the chance to do Onyxia, Molten Core and Zul'Gurub. At least you have a good chance of upgrading your character.
