i have a lvl 24 eldritch with full respec availble. Im currently 23 mana 6(?) Light. Im wondering hows it best to go in the long run.
I dont want to be void, i have a runecarver runie for bolting, i like the PBAoE, and i like the light :) but which to do to what lvl and why? Eldritches, pain in the arse so much choice of spec. Im also thinking rvr here (extreme long run) so maybe i can respec again at lvl 40? for more nasty light nuking instead of pbaoe.
ive said enought...

your advice is appreciated alot

It sums up like this:

Mana:Bit more wanted in groups but now when we have way too many mana chanters they not *that* wanted they once were

Light:You wont get any ae spells expect 31 sec mezz what still is usefull tho,you not going to be "not-wanted char" on groups, just non essential.Nearsight is usefull and nuke is not bad either.

Personally would suggest to go for light as you can solo oranges if no groups

As a mana eldritch you get more tools than a mana chanter, although penalty for this is longer pbaoe cast time (not making much difference to me). Your instant cast str/con debuffs, ae disease, ae attack speed decrease and snare dd's can turn the course of battle. I recommend any mana elds getting wild arcana. Even capped stats fighters will notice when theyr str/con drops for 73+70critical hit.

just as a side note, unbuffed enemies only recieve 62% of the stated debuffs.. so a 73+70 debuff actually only reduces stats by 89 total. buffed enemies will feel it worse tho ;)

I've found that whatever way you spec, give it your all.. If you want to be as powerful as you can don't split points up into various things, you can diversify at level 40.

I'm a little mana eldy and I've found that maxing mana from level 1 onwards worked well for me. For groups you have the always crowd pleasing Mana Bursts (PBAoE) and the very useful Snare with DD which with careful planning can enable you to solo a red/low purple should the need occur (very handy for very early morning quest monster hunts!)

Although having said that, I think perhaps the best advice is to spec as you want to, if you want to split your points to gain diversity at lower levels then go for it. The above is just my advice, and to be fair speccing in one line only can get a little dull :)

/send me in game if you want any live advice, I'm usually about most days in one form or another :)

If you go Mana go full mana. The last snare DD is worth it (i've heard :p ). My spec at 50 (when I get back from Camlann) will be 50M 18Void for the first GTAE and 12 Light which gives the first nearsight which will already pis people off ;)

I originally specced my eldy as void and didn't really enjoy it.
Gone light now and love it - pretty decent nukes combined with quickcast mez / stun if you're in trouble can save you on many occasions :)
Can fairly comfortably solo oranges now (we do have all the pow relics though :p which probably has something to do with it!) and am having lots of fun.

Still undecided if to stay light at 40 or respec to mana though :/

When the respec came in almost every Eldy I know respeced to Mana because of the whole PBAoE excitement, often at the cost of no longer knowing how to play the character..

I've a great deal of respect for people who have stuck with light which I still think is the most diverse spec.

Hi all,

Just here to semi highjack this thread..

I've recently joined the happy land of Hibernia (with it's excessive use of the colour green) and started an Eldritch. Currently he's full void (at lvl 9), but I've been wondering about the other specs available.

Browsing the VN boards it seems that Elds aren't too popular these days and those that remain carry on about mana being the best line with it's PBAoE. Apparently everyone in Hib does AoE groups, and any caster without AoE gets told to bugger off. Is this true, or are the VNers just whining?

Void doesn't actually seem that bad, but then I am only lvl 9! Basically I'd like to be welcome in groups yet able to solo when I want to... Not much to ask really :p

In some ways you are right, there are a lot of people out there that only let Eldies in if they are Mana.. Although since the respec I've given up trying to find a random group as a lot of Eldies moved to Mana and there are more Usp (Mana Enchanters) Clones springing up every day and they seem to be very popular in the groups..

I think the best advice I can offer is to play the spec you enjoy and are familliar with, and ask about and join a friendly guild. With the support of a caring guild you will have regular gruping sessions available to you, and at other times if you don't get a group you can solo..

Grouping with your guildies is much more enjoyable than a random group any day of the week anyway :)

I have full void spec & I have not had any problems getting groups so far (Lvl 27 now) :) and have just picked up the first energy resist debuff which should work nice in the right group.

Mana Eldies will love you Aileanara, one of the most important and usually underused aspect of the void eldy is the Energy Debuff.

I say it several times a day [but few people listen ;)], a void and mana eldritch combination played correctly is very effective!
