Effective weapon spec above 50

Does anyone know if there has been actual tests done on how much difference there is between a weapon spec of 60 vs 50? How much damage is gained? How much to-hit?

To put it in barrysworld language: GIVF INFO!

I havent played DAOC in ages but the itch has finally returned. And I sure as hell aint playing another caster.

The damage gained is minimal, but it effects the weapon skill of your character.
And weapon skill determines your chance-to-hit and chance to evade etc..

(correct me if im wrong)

Yeah thats about the same thing that I recall from back when I used to play, a waste of points. However a buddy of mine who continued playing after I quit says the weaponskill effect is far from negligable. Between hitting more and getting less evades it made a distinct difference he tells me. I thought it would be really interesting to see exactly how much of a difference.

So if there isnt any research done on the subject, who feels like taking a blank suit of crafted armor, do a couple of hundred yellows and then a couple of hundred more with 61 weaponskill? :)

go check out vnboards

some guy there has done some extensive tests on weapskill, to-hit etc.. can't remember his name tho :p

iirc:

base to-hit (ie. miss or hit) is solely due to style to-hit, and bonuses on weap vs armour

weapskill affects getting through evade, block and parry

Hmm ok ill try to track down that post thanks. Bloody vnboards need a non-subscriber search option.

And yes, a little more damage is still more damage, but might not be the best bet if you have to give up too much in another field :)

Put it this way, :
less than 50 weapon spec = gimped
less than +11 on SC suit = gimped

Weaponskill = base damage.
Effective spec level = style damage(doesnt decrease after 50 effective)
The magic '50' = The point where you stop getting a lower than 100%-150% modifier on your damage, which means that below you have down to 25%-75%(for 1 spec) and above(50+) you have 100%-150% damage.

In summary, your base damage increases after 50, just not as much as before. Your style damage goes up just as much as before(and by style damage, i mean the (+xx) numbers).

Im not 100% sure of the exact percentages on max/min spec, but its *something* like that :p
