I am definitely gonna be getting T2 when it's out ( W000t! ), but i am worried about one thing, although i only played Tribes a small amount, i was very aware of the 'l33t' nature of a lot of the ppl that played it, and how abusive and condesending they were/are to new players like myself. Especially those that were clanned etc ( Not saying that eevryone is like that of course )..maybe it was just me, and i was unlucky enough to be around certain servers where this sorta thing happens, but i really hope that this doesnt continue into Tribes2 i.e. Old School Tribes players moving on to T2 where they can Lord it over the noobz.

think of all the newbies who will attack you with a repair pack. i think BW needs a tribes2 early learning server, where they can learn, though T2 offline training is available.

lol, the first time i played tribes, i couldn't understand why no one fell to their knees by my Targeting laser (lol)

Anyway, in my experience Barrysworld users are VERY friendly so if you stick to these for at least a few sessions you wil be fine.

On another note, the old school tribes players will get a horrible shock if they don't expect any n00bies in T2 so i don't think there is anything to worry about. Just run the training missions to the end if you want to learn everything (they are meant to be very detailed). The buety with Tribes1/2 is that things are easy to learn but hard to master.

Just play offline on a few maps for about an hour and sort some very basic cap routes (if you are like me-capper). Just go for the most blindingly obviouse routes that are easy to ski and practise them, then go online and start capping.

I want to change my roles for Tribes 2 though, playing a defensive Pilot looks fun but i know i won't be able to keep away from capping. Skiing your favourite route with 3 lights in hot persuite disk jumping etc and watching the chaingun fire fly over your head. It is the ultimate adrenelin rush. This time it will be in Wildcat grav bikes and the pace will be higher, with scouts escorting you back to your flag. What a game.

Tribes 2 is a totally different animal to Tribes 1 - the only advantage T1 players have is that they are used to jetpacks and fighting not just on the ground (a la cs etc) but in the air. its a tiny advantage that really meanks jack s**t.

I wouldnt worry about it - when Tribes 1 came out it was released in the US months before being available here (when it finally came out proper it was bundled with Starsiege as the Starsiege Universe pack if you remember). A lot of people got it on import so if u were a newbie in the UK and you hadn't imported it - that meant that when you played it for the first time you were at a disadvantage to the import copy buyers...thats just not the case for t2. Dynamix finally learnt that people over here like it too and its out 2 weeks or so after the US release. Some people were involved in beta and meta testing but believe me this is a TEAM game so pick a role, have fun and win .

Btw - you always get some people mouthing off on servers - in Tribes 1 you can just mute them thanks to Presto's script pack . The Tribes 1 players of course expect people from all over to play T2 - if they didnt there wouldnt be a Tribes 3 .

Just buy it - play it - love it!

Hehe yeh like you custard, when i first pld tribes, i tried using the targetting laser aswell, and couldn't understand why it werent doing anything, I just thought 'laser' hmm sounds good, bang! LOL, anyway, i know what u mean about capping ( my position of choice ), the rush is unmistakable, and when u can feel them closing in on yer tail, you actually physically start to squirm in you seat as if doing so will aid u in your escape ~ Awesome!

one of the funniest newbie problems is the vehicles and navigation. ive been kidnapped a number of times and with the removal of heavy skiing ppl are going to be relying more on vehicles.

I can't wait to use the Vehicles. The Vehicles in T1 are pantz. Apparently you can perform stunts in the shrike this time (loop the loops etc) am i correct?

It is gunna be a right laff playing T2.

Also does the Morter on the Beowulf tank fire faster than the hand held morter?
