Oh, what you moving through for?
It all depends what you're into. Tell me where you like in Glasgow, and I'll tell you what's similar in Edinburgh.:D

Hmmm.
I think my flat will be in Tollcross, i dunno. Ill check.
Pubs, i like The Goose, Counting House, and Baird's Bar (im a celtic fan see, so help me avoid any edinburgonian pubs where ill get stabbed :> ).
As for nightclubs, i like clubs with a metal theme i.e somewhere you will heard alternative stuff like Metallica, Sabbeth etc.

There's an identical pub to The Counting House, called The Standing Order, on George Street. If you like metal, there is The Mission, in Carlton Studios, fortnightly on Saturdays.
Alternative-wise, The Moo Bar at the meadows is cool, and the Black Bull is good.

Don't know about the specific bands, but there are a couple of folk pubs left. They are Whistle Binkies, on the High Street, and Finegan's Wake, on Victoria Street.

We use to have this club in London called Madam Jo Jo's in Soho.

It was full of transvestites.

Just thought I'd let you know.;)

Brings back memories of my younger days :

Grindlay Street union - just opposite usher hall.
Burnt Post in Lothian Road.
The Illicit Still - up near the meadows
Rutland #1 near Caledonian Hotel.

And lots and lots more

Bet you theyve all changed their name by now.

Grindlay Street Union is gone - now The Citrus Club, and been that way for a while. Never heard of The Illict Still, but the other two are going strong. Rutland #1 will never change its name.

How about the Cats Pyjamas.

It was a Jazz club down near Easter Road.

Wrong side of town for me - I'll ask my little sister tonight, since she lives off Easter Road.

Why? I hear you ask. simple - its the SPAM belt of Edinburgh

Illicit Still is a nice wee pub, the "rock" scene in Edinburgh has kinda gone down the pan tho, no where near as many live gigs or clubs as there used to be, the mission used to rock when it was on Victoria Street, now its full of posing dance wankers like sardines in a tin. :)

I could be encouraged to go out for a pint, shame about your allegiance tho.....

Ferg.

Aye, damn right, any club called espionage and charging silly money for pints of stale piss should be avoided. How long ago are you talking for a disco on princes street ?

Been a long time since there has been much there in the way of discos etc, as far as I can remember neway :)

spose it all depends on how old you need to be to remember them ;)
