I'll be there

Don't have a stand this year, so chances are I'll be drunk at the bar, and then wandering round trying to look important.

"This year sees some major changes for ECTS, including moving the dates to Thursday 29, Friday 30 and Saturday 31 August 2002, the show's return to a central London venue - Earls Court"

Is it true, that part of the venue(The old one if it's moved?) allways smells of vomit? :uhoh:

my sence of smell is awful. Plus ive only been the last 2 years. Its generally a good laugh (especially as the company is paying ;-) Last years was crap, but with Capcom, Konami and a few other big names, it should be good!

[newbie question]

is it open to the general public?

[/newbie question]

No, ECTS is trade only, allthough i heard something about a section being open to the public, but i reckon that'd be a few shit stands paid for by the big publishers purely for advertising purposes.

ah well, guess i won't go along then!

altho i do remember going to a couple of these shows a few years back - when sega and nintendo were the main competitors. remember them throwing free gifts from one of the stands and just mass crushing as people lept for them!

Possibly going, got the press pass last week, so it'd not be any hassle.

Don't know if it's worth it though, well it will be if I can get some GameSpy shot glasses this year...;)

The Sony stand (half of the show) is open to the public I believe

Just the playstation experience (ie the experience of purchasing an overrated, under powered expensive bag of hammers)

In reality it would do better if they allowed the public in after the first day.

They would make a fortune if they charged the public - say £5/day

Am i correct in stating that ECTS stands for European Computer Trade Show? Even if it doesn't it's still a trade show.

Trade shows aren't there to make money :p

Isnt *trading* the process of making money?

You usually trade a product for cash...

No, a trade show is an excuse to spend lots of the profits on things like shot glasses and caps. By definition, a trade show loses money

Which is becoming less acceptable in todays climate.
