Arwen, it's not a case of which is the "best", each type has its uses, it's more about which one _you_ like play, so _you_ decide based on how _you_ like to play, not on how someone else does, simple as that.

Personally?

Earth : 6 sec pbt if you want to be _loved_ by any PvE and many RvR groups. Just ensure you get Serenity 3 or better and MCL 2!

Air : 10 sec PBT and best Air nuke = RvR theurg.

Ice : go roll an ice wizz instead.

That said, with changes to pets and their non-CC'ability, spamming a few earthen pets on anything is going to hurt them whoever they are.
