Do you know of any studies which can back up your views, Maljonic?

Have there been surveys to determine the percentage of hetrosexual men in prison, who practise homosexual acts?
Yes, there's 50 years' worth of studies (not all by me obviously), though most of the evidence is from the last ten years and I expect the next ten years will reveal more than the last 50 put together, which is a good thing because it means society is becoming more open about what is going on - hopefully one day children will always report such crimes and it will become a thing of the past. The worst thing at the moment is that 99% of victims believe it's their fault, usually because it's done to them by a relative who they love and don't want to believe they could be bad and because the relative has conditioned the situation in such a way that makes them think it is all their own fault. They'll even use tricks like giving what they do to their 6 year old child/gandchild/nephew or whatever a code name or phrase, like 'shall we go and read Cinderella' or something like that, and they'll say it in front of the whole family so the child thinks everyone already knows about it and thinks it's all right when the mother just smiles and watches them leave the room - just an example.

It's not just 12 year old we're talking about here, that's actually quite old for a paedophile victim; they usually pick on them much younger before they can fully explain themselves with articulate speech, like 2,3,4 or 5 or sometimes just babies, which is really hard to imagine but it's true.

As for men having sex with other men in prison and being raped, that's a whole other issue and not really anything to do with paedophiles. Though there may be some connections with the need to control another human being, as rape is about control and power more than it is about sex.

I wanted to edit part of what I said above: when it is a relative abuser it is quite rare for it to be the immediate family, or even a stapfather/mother, I think it's less than 5%. The abusers are usually someone very close to the family, a friend, an uncle or a next door neighbour or something like that.

Both Scouse and escape are right - some people have innate tendencies - these tendencies may never be expressed and they can live perfectly normal lives.

For people with the tendency to paedophilia the usual societal taboo's will in most cases be strong enough to restrain such a tendency - however exposure to child porn (which would probably have a special attraction to them) could push them overboard into expressing their tendency in criminal acts.

However normal people seeing the same porn would never be likely to become paedophiles - they would just feel disgust.

So escape is right - some people may become paedophiles after seeing child porn but equally scouse is right in saying they would have to be fucked up in the first place.

Even for those with such a tendency it would still be a matter of choice and thus they deserve no special treatment in the courts because of it.

It's extremely unlikely that exposure to child porn would push someone 'over the edge', if someone is looking at child porn they probably already crossed the line a long time ago - like a heroine addict on methadone would be a good comparison. Either that or watching these videos etc is their way of not acting out their fantasies for real, which may make them feel better but is just as bad because they are paying someone else to do it for them.

I suppose with most addictions you could argue that it's a matter of choice; but really it's a mental illness, that can be treated in most cases, where the addict is way out of control and stuck in a rut and cycle of wanting, getting and guilt then wanting again to take away the pain of the guilt. The same as any addiction really, just that it's an especially repugnant one to the rest of us who aren't addicted.

Rynnor m8. Escape is saying that people may become paedophiles after they watch normal porn.

Also - If you're predisposed to paedophilia and are watching child porn - you're already an abuser of some form. It's not "tipping you over the edge" - by getting hold of child porn with the intention to watch it you've already stepped over the edge...

...ahhh. I've just seen Maljonic's post which says that anyway :)

I realise this is my third forray into male sexual fantasy in the last two days, but wouldn't it be great if a bunch of people masturbated furiously over video footage of him being dispatched by the firing squad? No? Ok...

No, viewing 'normal' pornography doesn't turn people into sadistic paedophiles.
But the range of porn on the internet, can lead someone down a spiral of debasement.

For whatever reason, you haven't understood my previous posts.
It's about perception, how you see the world around you, how they see you and what is collectively 'normal'. How easy is it to twist the human mind? It's like flicking a switch.

One day, there were these people who came from far away and they had dark skin. Oh, but they aren't people! These human-like negros are barely intelligent enough to work as slaves. Beat them, rape them, kill them. They aren't human, it doesn't matter.

One day, these people are your neighbours. Oh, but they are bad people, we're at war. Beat them, rape them, kill them. They are your enemy.

Human perception is a fickle thing, it can be changed to view children as the enemy, as slaves or even sex objects. Don't think modern societies are above such things. Britain is currently at war because the Prime Minister decieved his people to change their perception of Iraq.

So I put it to you, that sinister organisations on the internet can exploit the minds of the weak, by using 'normal' porn as bait and reeling them into a world where children are no longer innocent. I don't have hard-facts to back this up, it's not something I've looked in to.

Though I do blame the spread of 'normal' porn on the internet for carrying other, unpalatable forms of abuse.

A little girl goes up to her mum and asks

"Mummy, mummy do they celebrate Xmas in Vietnam?

to which her mother replies

"No, but I think they're hanging Glitter this year"
