I had two Russian Dwarf hamsters as a child, similar to these:

They were darling, sweet pets and I loved them dearly.

UNTIL

One of them died (alas, the laws of nature), and the survivor (winner \o/) ATE the head of the dead one.

This may have affected me in later life.

I had about 5 Russian Hamsters as a child - only 1 at a time tho - and they were ALL little vicious buggers, but i could never resist buying another one each time one died. They not only bite, they lock their jaws too lol.

So i'd cry and cry and cry for another one, then wouldnt go near it until it died too....

I remember we found a tiny ickle puppy outside your door one very wet day , so we took him in ( think i was about 10 -12 at the time) and ofc my my bro ( 8 ) and sis ( 7) where fighting over what to call him.
So being the oldest i came up with what seemd i sure fire way of naming him.
Went into my mum and asked what we where having for dinner, Hence his name was :

Esp when one of them will throw things Hella Far , and pity the Foo's that don't catch it, while one of the others will Run in slow motion and sit talking to the running wheel, and the 3rd , well lets say with cotton wool , Chipping and a bit of water you could have a mild case of Antrax the next day

I used to have Chinchillas, they were lovely, never bite, very friendly, loved human contact etc. They also live quite a long time.

I had to give them away when i moved house new flat = no pets

Dont fuss over them on the first day, because well, zey bite lots and can suffer from shocks, especially when they are that small

i hand tamed my old one so luckily it didnt bite ;o and it lived for 2.5 years, long for a hamster XD
