ok have a little problem.
When I put a dvd (movie) in my dvd player (in my pc) it wont read it. Or it gives the sign "no response". It never did this before, so i reinstalled everything and still no response, the only thing that does happen when i have a dvd disc in is that everything becomes slower.
Another thing when I put in a disc from region 2 it still shows region 0?
dvd = samsung (40 read)
video card = Hercules 64 mb
program = cyberlink powerDVD
/edit os=98 :eek:

dont know what else you need?
Have tried asking cyberlink but am still waiting after 3 weeks :(

It's generally seen as a bad idea to put a DVD/CD as a slave device to the Hard Drive as when they are both in use (such as during installations or caching a DVD) both devices can only work at half its usual bandwidth - thus making installations much slower (both devices in use at the same time).
Also, if you are playing an audio CD, or watching a DVD, anything that is running from virtual memory on the hard drive will be at least twice as slow operating.

The best thing is to have the first hard drive on IDE-0 and the first CD/DVD on IDE-1. Then you are stuck using slaves for addition hard drives and CD/DVD-RWs - short of having additional IDE sockets (maybe from a RAID controller) or buying a PCI card with extra IDE sockets on.

Helps?
