dvd players

not sure if this is the right place, but as i dont have a dvd player yet, i thought it was time to get the old man to buy one.
can anyone recomend one which they have (or know someone who has) which plays vcd/svcd and costs less than 100quid?

Personally, I'd get an xbox, slap a mod chip in it. Get the remote, and install xbmp/xbmc. What you got, an xbox that can play DVDs (to a really good, tho not top of the line) quality. And, AND an amazing xvid, divx, mp3, ogg, wmv etc etc player too.

Oh and the latest CVS build of xbmc has the first few lines of code for the TIVO recording addon.

I reckon the xbox is your best bet as well as any DVD player for under a ton is likely to be shit

The executer 2 lite is about 30 quid
whilst the pro is about 40.

for the extra 10 quid, I'd get the pro (means you can flash the bios on the chip easier).

However, if your willing to wait about 2 months, I think the executer3 is on the way out. Might be worth a gander.
