Ok I just baught 8.5 dvd r dl and I just tried to put a few files onto it and then all of a sudden it failed and was asking about firmware...

I have: hp BD ROM BC-5501H

I'm not entirely sure what I have to do?

Is it just simple to update the firmware or what? :)

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the replies.

It says blah blah blah... exceeds the file system size limitation. Please choose the UDF file system for burning.

Any ideas?

what size is the file your trying to burn ? one 8 gig one ?

Maybe make sure the file sizes are less than 2gb by splitting it ?

The file im trying to put on CD is approx 5.6 gb.
No matter what burner im using it always comes up with updating my firmware. Is this possible and where would I go for the following?

hp BD ROM BC-5501H

just to see .. im not being silly rom is read only ..thats not a read write when you say BD ROM

Maybe its asking for a firmware that will allow it to be a BD r/w

or dvd r/w

5.6GB is too big for a DVD writer. Your writer does not support writing Blueray discs but only CD/DVD.... Try make it smaller or split the file like Moriath said. A DVD should be able to handle approx 4.7GB files iirc.

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.

I have done what Moriath suggested and splitting the files into 2 sections enough for 2 DVD CD's.

Thanks again
