You will always get dust build up over time, even if you install filters.

Yup my tower is only 3 months old, looks like a dust factory inside! Unless the dust is blocking air flow on your Heatsinks, intakes, exhaust blowers etc then dont worry too much :)

Get the machine off the floor if you can, that seems to help most.
In my experience, air filters still let in dust, only it's finer :(

A slightly different view to dust in a PC.

Instead of preventing dust getting into the PC, try to keep your room free of dust with regular hoovers and dusting with polish (i know, i know - it's women's work ;) )

I found that by doing this, dust build-up has been minimal inside my PC. Also, i found that after a shower and spraying myself with anti-perspirant in my bedroom, this AP would get sucked into the PC and leave chalky deposits on fan blades. Spray any sprays in the bathroom ;) .

Hoover ???

Shower ???

What techno-wizard-gadgets are these ? What process are they manufactered on ? Can they be run in parrellel ?

Think I'll overclock my anti-perspirant as soon as dabs get them in stock !

In my experience the dust puppies have to get really big and evolve into sentient creatures to pose some sort of threat, the only dust buildup that matters is on the actual filters and fans themselves as that may effect performance.

As with most other hardware-obsessed nutcases, I regularly open up my case for "adjustments", and run the vacuum cleaner around inside every time to keep the dust low, so I don't consider it to be a problem, also having large tower airey cases makes the dust fall to the bottom out of the way.

I've seen other people's cases where they have probably never been opened before, and the dust buildup makes me wonder how the damn thing ever runs at all without bursting into flames, but it does assure me my own situation can get a _lot_ worse before it affects the machine or my safety.

Lol, i remember a few weeks back in College, a Customer brought in a PC (VERY Old) anyway, i poened the Case up, and there was this nice huge Blanket or Dirty Black Dust, i did the stupid thing of Blowing into the case, the Dust covered my whole Face, and for about a week i felt as though i was choking.. :/

Never do that again!

Kind of related....do I have to worry about static if I'm vacuuming the dust out of my PC? If so, what should I do about it?

Worry about something else, like the cat or starving africans or something, works for me.

Main problem with that might be sucking some thing up you didn't want to...use compressed air.
