dumb question

looked at a pile of templates for a runie, and the general concensus is to get dark to 47 and supp to 26

what i don't get, is every time i increase in level i get new spells for all the catagories anyway, reguardless of what i train.

for example, i had nothing in supp, yet could cast level 20 supp spells.

i'm probably being extremely dense, but could someone please explain this to me :)

In each line you get base line spells and spec line spells. You recieve the base line spells at the approriate level of your character. You only recieve the spec line spells if you...err..spec to the appropriate level.

So runemaster supp line...

At character level 11 you recieve the Suppress Strength STR debuff.

At spec level 11 (i.e. 11 spent on Suppression) you get the Suppress Sight range debuff spell.

The base line spells are shared between all classes of your base char type (Mystic in this case) so runeys and spiritmasters recieve the same suppression base line spells at the same character levels.

The spec line spells are unique to each class so runemaster and spiritmasters recieve different spells as they specialise in Suppression.

Hope this helps.

Also, spec line spells are usually stronger than baseline spells. For example, a spec line DD does much more dmg than a non-spec line on average (if you have specced high enough, of course).

There is only one rule into speccing RMs: get suppresion to 26 or you'll have trouble grouping above 40. The pulsing bladeturn is what groups want you for.

If you spec into darkness you'll miss out on the last few spells, but I dont think it's that serious. However speccing into RC is more spec point 'efficient' since you dont miss out on any dmg spells (only matter resist debuff).

It's also a viable option to spec high suppression for that 6 sec bubble. Personally I'm speccing my RM to 50 suppression... if I ever get him that high ;D
