Duelling

I was having a natter with a Guildie late last night about what is and what is not acceptable in Realm Duelling (as opposed to frontier stuff).

I'd like people's views on this please - for example.

Is using IP acceptable? I fought a Pally last night - he used all his chants, but not Faith Heal. I didnt use IP. It was really close at the end, in fact it came down to who got the next hit in, we were both that low. He did, and I died.

IP and Purge are powerful RAs to use in a duel. But the question is:

Is it fair to use those abilities and other manual RAs, and is it honourable?

paladin not using chants is a gimped armsman, of course he should use chants because its natural to his class.

hmm, I find that using active RA's in duels wrong, eg purge, IP, FA, etc

Everything else though, slam, insta's, insta heals (on healers) are fine

I dont use my RA's in any duel but if I was told at start of the duel its ok to use them then nps and still fun. The thing is passive 1's are gonna get used so why not use the timer one's . its not fair on the person who speccd in the passive's first and is going to get the timer's. Any way even if u did IP he would own u as u have 0 endura and he has end chant and heal chant up. Got to kill a s/s pally quick or not at all. As for 2h paladins :D tell them bout the respec stones and /duel surreneder . only duel they will win

i ithink it's fair to use RA's, after all, you wouldn't be duelling that person to all their potential otherwise. RA's are skills that you earn, and that become a part of your character.
otherwise, it's like saying to a fire wizzy that you will only fight them if they use only baseline spells, and not specialised, just as one example

I hink it was stated in the patch notes that using certain RAs such as IP and FA or FH or whatever cancel the duel.

People with lots of passive RAs will think active RAs are bad :)

If you want to make it fair - play a best of three.
This also balances out things like Friar haste buffs, mercenary dirt, zerker rat-mode etc.

But as always - agree beforehand.

They don't - it's anything ground targeted stops a duel as it's the ground doing the damage.

OMG, have you seen how powerful your pet is?

OK I'm very high in Enchantments, but had a pet-only duel with an orange-con Hero, he was down to 1/3 health, and he hadn't hit the Underhill once!!!!!!!
Also finished off an orange-con Ranger who got a crit in right at duel start and took 1/4 of pet's health before using blades.

Good idea.
