Duel: Barrysworld v Jolt

Im pretty sure that this argument has been up here many a time.. but I'm new here so ur all just gonna have to repost >

Reasons for liking and disliking BW and Jolt.

Give you mine:

BW - Pros...
Awersome website (Im quite judgemental when it comes to websites.. me be a web developer and all), lotsa info for what ever question you have, links to files and everything u need plus extra proggies that BW has made themsleves to help us gamerz out. The servers are brilliant, managed well (I think) and there seems to be quite a wide range to choose from over all games.

BW - Cons...
eeeek havnt been here long enough, but bad pings happen once in a while...

Jolt - Pros...
Tons of servers, over lotsa games too. Brill pings!

Jolt - Cons...
Shocking website, fairly good looking site but no info what so ever. Out of date and the links to files are barely existent.

Sometimes get major Lag Spikes
Empty Servers
Too many good players
No more reason to go into BWAdmins ()



Jolt Pros
They have Pros?! WTF?!
All the Lamers from barrysworld have migrated to Jolt

Regarding the whole "no one playing on BW servers" issue... excuse my ignorance on this topic... but the BW servers are empty because they only allow players on who have payed for the use of those servers.. right?

hmmm if this is the case then I may have a few idea that can help out.. where would I voice my comments or who can I speak to?

well I can support the 'lamers moved to jolt' statement, I went on there the other night and scored about 30-5. And even got accused of cheating!

Ive been looking at their forums this afternoon, and making a couple of posts. I do post on thier DoD forum from time to time, seeing as how DoD is non-exsistant at BW.
Anyway, there are a LOT of kids on Jolt. A lot of discussions about school bullying, and conversations about whether you'l get 60-100 fps @ 1024-768 with a Pentium 350/ onboard vid card. (!)

Btw, its not a problem for me the amount of kids, but its just not somewhere id feel at home

Jolt is rather pap, although their clan servers are nice, their publics are crap. Poor server settings along with poor adminning and poor mapcycles, as well as a poor player base and you have sheer boredom

Ive always found Jolt to be good with pings etc. BW just seems to be a better community for online gaming. Keep in mind though BW has been here longer than Jolt.

Yep I have to agree with the 32 man dust disgrace.

A complete waste of time and laggy as pish.

now a 32 man cs_havana would be teh w!n...400 pings all round and 700 for 56k

Yeah the 32-man servers are a nice idea in principle but are actually a total waste of time. High pings , and also the point of the map is changed.
They do one for DoD as well, and I must admit I play a lot of DoD on Jolt, but the 32 man server just makes for massive choke points and stupidly high scores for no skill mg32'ers
