You'd best take plenty with you. Ireland's the most expensive country in the Euro at the moment.

I found this out to my horror when I visited last year. Dublin's prices are silly TBH.

A handy lil site run by someone I know online. It was a little experiment in PHP or ASP or some arse like that, it links to some official site that gets the most updated exchange rate. ft.com or something similar.

Anyway, he'd probably not appciate me sharing so I shan't.

It says that price on all the sites but is that if bought in a Euro zone? I just changed some and got 1.32 :(

Is it just Dublin that's mega expensive Kenny or is it most of Ireland? I'm off to Youghal (Waterford way) in a few weeks...

It's mostly Dublin but unfortunately what they did was convert all the prices and add a bit on top so the whole of Ireland is pretty damn expensive.

I know for a fact that Ireland's the most expensive country in the Euro as I read it just the other day. Dunno where though. Maybe in the Metro. Or maybe it was on the radio? Dunno. heh.

Another fact I heard a while back was that Ireland's the 2nd most expensive country in Europe (next to the UK I'd guess) yet it's the 17th best paid (in wages).

Anyway, back to the point, yes Ireland is damn expensive. Fact.

Afaik Norway is the most expensive country in Europe. I was going to visit Oslo until I saw the prices. £9.50 a pint anyone?

Dublin is more expensive than the rest of Ireland, as London is the most expensive part of England. Some things are cheaper such as petrol and most food (if you arent eating out).

If you have an English accent we charge you 25% more (unless you are subscribed to GAME in which case its 50%)

Norway isn't in the EU, (best decision they ever made), so you can't blame the prices on the Euro...

Beer isn't quite as expensive as Xtro says, unless you go into the most expensive bars in Oslo, but then go in expensive London bars/clubs and you can pay that. Having said that though it is pretty damn pricey, but then the people are generally much better paid then here. Take my cousin for instance, supermarket work at age of 16, £7.50 an hour. It's not that the country is expensive, so much as the exchange rates are pants. Two ends of the same stick I suppose though.

Dublin is pretty expensive, I went on a stag weekend there for 3 nights and spent about £200 on food and beer.

By the way you dont need to change any euros before you go, all the highstreet banks will take your standard cashpoint card and give you money in euro's. There is a small charge for doing the exchange but beats hunting for travel shops.

Heh, nah not from Manchester ;)

There was a cashpoint at the airport, I turned up with about a tenner in sterling. Then just drew out a load of euro's when I got off the plane.

We were drinking three days/nights so I guess if you think about it £200 isnt that bad, it works out about £2.50 a pint in most places so I wouldnt say its as bad as London but its not much better.

Apparently if you pay for things with a credit card you pay business exchange rate, which is slightly more favourable than tourist rate. Or so I heard.

I am going to Ireland in July, Bantry Bay and around, looking forward too it.

I went not long ago. It was great!! And not that dear. Dublin centre - Temple Bar 4 euros a pint (£2.75??) then after 11, 5 euros about 3.50 I guess. Stop bloody whinging you only live once. And if you spend more than 5 minutes worrying about the different exchange rates on £200 quid, then I pity the fool. There were quite a few Scots there too, so it couldn't be THAT expensive.

I couldn't find any curry houses tho :(
