DSL Tweeks?

Hey peeps,

Im currently on a 1Mb line with wanadoo and was wondering can anyone tell me if there’s any way to improve its speed?

The download rates are reasonably fast. but when playing games eg, Counters Strike Source i only manage a ping of around 40-50, the same as every one else in there (mainly on 512kbs as far as i know..) i thought maybe this was just on jolt servers but it is the same no matter where i go. Any websites/programs to help out would be gr8 thanks

40-50 ping sounds about right. Having a 1mb service generally means you just have more bandwidth, it doesnt mean better pings.

Someone might be able do advise you some better clrates which can sometimes help a wee bit.

Get a firewall, like ZoneAlarm, and start blocking off programs that you don't want to access the internet when you're playing games.

Can get my ping down by 10-20 just by running a firewall.

netlimiter just blocks bandwith usage...

ZoneAlarm can block all those annyong applications from searching for updates all the time, increasing your ping ever so slightly
