DSL router recommendations

Well it saddens me to say this but i'll soon be moving from my blueyonder cable to a DSL enabled house (that doesn't have a cable line).

The thing is, i'm looking for a good DSL router with built in modem preferably.

How many of you own a DSL router and what one would you recommend?

Thanks in advance.

Leggy.

I bought a Netgear DG-814 ADSL Router...my first ever router and I got Jolt ADSL....and its all very nice....5 mins to set up (not the dsl account tho...took nearly 2 weeks as I have a new phone line)...I get q3 pings as fast as 35 + the router looks nice. I particularly wanted a non-usb solution...I use a pc network card as usb uses th cpu and pc card gives ever so slightly lower pings. Tho I only have 1 puter connected to it atm...It will take 4.

I dont really understand NAT and port forwarding and all that stuff...but I use zonealarm fo security.

My only criticisms....when unused the router seems to go to sleep..and so it takes a few seconds to "wake up" to network traffic. Also this ones quite expensive. I got mine from MicroDirect over the counter. Micro Direct

<edit> I had NTL 600 K cable until recently...and the DSL is just as good as far as I can tell...so no need to be

Ok thanks guys. My next question is how does someone get out of a 12 month freeserve contract so they can pursue a different service provider (i.e. a good one that has a 1mbit option)?

The person has been with freeserve for about 7 months I think.

Just one thing...I read that the adsl modem/router should be within 3 meters cable of the microfilter optimally. If you believe that horseshit you might want to consider wireless. However I put a 10 meter cable in between the filter and router and ran bandwith tests before and after and observer no effect...however, you have to concede that no wires would be quite nice.

I had looked at the wireless option but it would be more that twice as expensive although infinitely more sexy. Both of us would need to buy wireless network cards too.

The router will be within 5 inches of the microfilter so no worries there.
