The d-link ADSL 504 completely sucks, I should have listened to what people said about it here before i bought it. Hey, I was in a mad rush :/

Here is why you shouldn't buy it

- Each and every time you make a modification to the config it requires a reboot which results in downtime of around 2mins.

- There is no bandwidth management stuff unlike the netgear series ( useful when you have a pornaholic brother *cough* )

- After 15 minutes of recieving the modem I started to update the firmware. Things went wrong and the modem could no longer boot. D-Link repaired it, but said "These things do happen with it". Two weeks downtime.

- Port forwarding only allows you to forward one port at a time.

- Port forwarding reckons that FTP uses 21&22 not 20&21 :/

- ANY kind of configuration is slow, confusing and very un-friendly.

- The serial console can display your 'root' password for the router in plain text, and does not ask for such password when you connect :/

The good thing is, this modem/router is as stable as it is shite.

prv me if you want to buy mine :p

Well, my adsl arrived, and I have to say that the 504 is working very well indeed after 2 firmware upgrades.

How the hell did we get along before broadband????

I remember the jump from 56k to isdn, and that impressed me.

But..Woooooooooooooooooah..ADSL rocks  :sex:
