Having heard a few other people mention this genre in the forum, i'm interested into hearing what it actually sounds like. i had a listen to that Pendulum - Vault song in the other thread and was wondering if anyone else knew other quality tracks?

I like the slower less lyrical stuff.

That said i do have moments when I just have to listen to an insanely fast track.

Anything by Aphrodite is probably good as he's done both.

For the slower stuff a good intro would be the Adam F album Colours.

The best type of DnB is the more tuneful stuff, not the hardcore shit, that's gay.

Try Goldies Incredible Sounds Of Drum and Base. It's jolly good.

Hmm check my sig mate, I changed it from Pendulum to this the other day. I usually change it to a different dnb track each week. Whichever one takes my fancy. I'm a big dnb fan, Dillinja is a dnb DJ, you see. I have about 50 drum n bass albums now :D

Ed Rush and Optical - Alien Girl
Krust - Warhead (Ram Trilogy remix)
Dj Zinc - Ska it's played out and I'll no doubt be attacked by anyone seriously into DnB, but you know when this comes on you're still dancing
Dillinja - Grimey this will melt your subwoofer.
DJ Marky and Patife - Brazillian EP The whole thing is superb

You're best off grabbing one of DJ Zinc's recent Fabric mixes. He's got a scary ability to play the biggest tunes at exactly the right time.

I left stuff like that out because I can't really see it appealing to anyone not in the scene. Sure stick it on and people will dance, but it's not really a track you can listen to and enjoy unless you've got memories of hearing it at events.

Does that make any sense?

Well ya, but I can't really tell tbh. I've been into dnb for nearly 2 years now. Used to listen to garage then realised it was a steaming pile of dog faeces. Although I think there is a serious lack of decent new dnb tunes coming out atm I am still buying albums (from amazon mostly) and will be for a long time. So I'm not sure what 'casual dnbers' would like, as I like the hardcore fast stuff.

Bitch.

Granted, about the time you claim to have stopped listening to it, it was.

Get Q Project's Champion Sound, it's the usual D'n'B newbie record.

I fail to see why for some reason.

1997 - Roni Size forms Reprazent and makes the best dnb album for years, intelligent AND fun. LTJ Bukem makes Logical Progressions 2. DnB suddenly has music. At the same time every club is going mental for techstep despite everyone else going can we have some melody?

1998 - Every DnB producer in the world goes OMGS THE AMEN REMEMBER THAT? Virtually nothing comes out all year that isn't an Amen based track.

1999 - Bryan Gee 'discovers' Marky and he comes to play at Movement. Then onto Kiss FM. Marky plays music that you can dance to with girls.

BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO DNB FOR YEARS.

Teebee - Silent Depths. It's a tune.

[although I'm not entirely sure it's DnB, someone sent me it as a demonstration of it but if it's not don't blame me ok? thx]

DnB for me was ruined once they went all melodic and jazzy sure there were some great tracks but on the whole it got very boring.

one of the reasons why speed garage as it was called then sprang up.
