Droid question

Ok, now, im a budding Bio-engineer that needs a droid that i can take into the field. It has to have some kinda medical facility, a crafting station and be able to act as a bodyguard for me while im sampling.

I am clueless as to how droids work, i figured i would just go buy one, and that each one had a different function, seems i was wrong, its a lot more complex.

I need a droid, but dont want to get the wrong set-up or get ripped-off.

If anyone can explain what options droids have, or suggestions for what to order, please post em up.

As far as I know-

Probots are the only good droids for battle. but I assume that's because the slots are loaded up with armour. Most people use Mouse (MSE) or R-unit droids for storage/crafting stations.

But I'm not a droid engineer.
