Driving Games?

Ladies,
I'm well into FPS games, CS in particular, online multiplayer is sooo much better than playing against bots. My games shelf is sadly lacking any driving games though. I used to play TOCA and F1 on PS1 with my bro using a multilink and 2 tellies which was a hoot. Now i need a driving fix again.
So what game should I buy?
It must have good single player mode, but more importantly online mutiplayer, and plenty of servers available. My preference is for circuit racing but I'm open to suggestions :)
Any good recommendations for a Wheel/pedal setup?

ta muchly

Not many driving games with many online servers, unless MotorCity floats yer boat?

I have £100 worth of Microsoft Force Feedback Wheel (impulse buy :/) which roXorz, cept I don't play many driving games.

Colin McRae Rally 2 is prolly the best rally game. Midtown Madness 2 is best for freedom to roam (until GTA3 is out on the PC in April) and has multiplayer capability. Don't know about circuit/F1 games as they're as BORING as MY ARSE!

In my opinion, obviously.

Was, not sure if it still is.

Can't check because the IT numptys blocked my access to main site for 'overuse of non-educational material'. Fight the oppressors!

I was not that impressed with Motor City - I don't like games based on the past

Some kinda Gran Turismo, or even better GTA, online would be wicked. I think this hole in the market is caused by the fact that racers lent themselves to consoles much better than PCs

Use safeweb or some other proxy to grab the page.

Or just type the IP address (213.221.181.6) in?

I concur, most certainly the case.

I got a sidewinder joypad but even that's fiddly, just isn't the same on the PC.

Michelin Rally Masters, its by the same people who did Motorhead, a spoogeworthy game in itself.

Its good with a wheel/pedal combo too.
I use the logitech Wingman Forumla Force having tried numerous wheels out at lan parties and mates houses. This had the right feel for me. Logitech have a new wheel out, called the momo and its some serious shit, with 270 degrees of rotation, 6 buttons, 2 steel paddle shifters, aluminium pedals and "real hand stitched leather wheel".

RM is hard to come by now, but if you can get it, it went through several patches and the latest version works quite well and supports dedicated servers.
No we dont have any, I'll beg for one and see what happens, but dont hold yer breath.
Theres a dedicated server in sweden that always has a bunch of regulars on it, although I found it very difficult to actually get anyone to say hello to me there!
They were quite happy yacking to each other (in English mainly), but they were very much a bunch of mates playing their game and i was an outsider.

We make our own track rotations (cant make your own tracks sadly, but you can build a championship by choosing tracks, direction, laps (if appropriate, some are A to B stages being a Rally game)
Hope to get NASCAR 4 soon.

Grand Prix 3 is very good but sadly, it had a very fiddly multiplayer. But imo if you want driving game nirvana, there is no other way than getting hold of a PS2 and a copy of Gran Turismo 3.
