A few days ago i was listening to the radio anyway the news was on when briefly they mentioned something about the paper-version of the drivers licence changing to a card format.

I remember when i originally past my driving test i accidentally lost/misplaced my counterpart version thinking it was not important. Alas, i had to buy a new set of driving licences [The normal one plus the paper counterpart], so to assure i never made the same mistake twice i decided to stick the paper-counterpart into my wallet.

So for a few years its been in my wallet now and i heard as stated on the radio about this new photocard - Has anyone actually gone and sent off for this? What is it like? Frankly id find it to be so much better than what i have at the moment, paper doesn't really bode well stuck in a wallet 24/7/365.

Anyway, i could be wrong, but i think this is what im talking about... Exchanging paper licence for photocard

Yeah thats what i thought... But isnt that the EXACT samething as the... Creditcard sized piece o plastic with your mug on it?

So wheres the difference, OR, does this new card actually replace both the old paper-counterpart and the original drivers licence?

I think you're getting a little mixed up.
The paper licences they're talking about are the OLD licences. The ones with a piece of pink/green paper that unfolded to a huge size.
They are talking about the photocard driving licence which has been around for *quite* some time (like over 10 years). You still have the paper counterpart along with your plastic card.
