All right. So this had totally snuck past me.
I'm a BIG fan of the Dragonlance books. And today i just realized a Dragons of Autumn Twilight, movie was released Jan. 14'th. I'm always nervous when the make a movie adaptation of a book i like, but was glad when i saw they had gone with animation. However, the thing that got me excited, was taking a look at the voice talent they had gone with;

Michael Rosenbaum, some of you might know him as Lex Luthor in Smallville.

Kiefer Sutherland, well if you don't know him, you are dead to the world :p

Lucy Lawless, once known and Xena the warrior princess.

Fred Tatasciore. Now you might go "Who?!"... just know he has done voicework for; Mass Effect, Drakes Fortune, Metal Gear Solid series, No more heroes, Halo 3, Beowulf, Bioshock, God of war series, Call of Duty series, Age of empires series, Rogue Galaxy, Gears of War series, Resistance fall of man. etc etc. You get point.

Michelle Trachtenberg, the (fake) younger sister of Buffy the vampire slayer.

Jason Marsden, was in most of the old late 80's early 90's sitcoms. And has done alot of voicework since.

Neil Ross, his list of work is so long that i'd need more than this page to recite it. Just know, he voiced the cartoons you loved as a kid; "Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light", "Smurfs", "Spider-Man", "G.I. Joe","Transformers", "Mr. Bogus", "The Pirates of Dark Water", "Darkwing Duck", "Swat Kats", "Batman", "Fantastic Four", "Biker Mice from Mars", "Iron Man". Just to name some.... And that was ALL just before '95.

Phil LaMarr, you might not recognize the name, but you will recognize the face. He did, Madagascar, The Animatrix. He is the loveable voice of Hermes from Futurama, he was in Family guy and in Shrek the third. He is Vamp from the Metal Gear solid series. etc etc.

I haven't actually seen the thing yet. But i will today. I just got really psyched when i saw he was voicing it.
I'll let you know if all that voice talent caries the thing. Or if it fails miserably.
Just thought i'd give all the Dragonlance lovers who might not have known a heads up :D

I've seen it, the voice acting is very good, what lets it down is the animation. It looks like a saturday morning cartoon mixed with some CGI, just doesn't seem to work. Kinda disappointed me they had such good actors then didn't ensure high quality animation.

They probably spent all the money on the actors rather than the animation!

I didn't mind them going with the oldschool drawn look, i actually quite like it, even if they mixed it with something alittle more modern. However, there was a few times where i felt they made it look worse than they could. I was like "Come on! You showed me you could make it look good no more than 2 mins ago. Why delibaretly uglify it?"
I think it was a concious decision, not a budget issue.

All in all, a decent job. Of course alot is lost from the book, but I think it would do very well split up, into 30 min episodes and released as a mini series once they finish up the story.
