Xanthian, nice screens but ... they kind of show you endangering us all by standing in the lair grouped, and with mana song active on you.

Taking the dragon down needs us all to follow certain rules, that means everyone, not everyone except you and your mates ...

I Don't mean to pick on you specifically (I saw worse, I can name 3 ppl who I saw cause aoe nukes needlessly) but please next time, don't do it again?

Where? the only pic with mana song in I was OUTSIDE the lair.
Don't tell me about rules, it was the stupid tanks using moose/IP, proccing weapons and whatever else that got ppl killed.
And I was grouped with 3 mages who were trying to keep the adds away.
Also Meanie stayed grouped because he was keeping us alive and rezzing at the back.

On that screen you are in the entrance to the lair, and I saw aoe being set off from there a few times (unless it's just coincidence that a bard with song active runs in there and _immediately_ aoe happens.

Like I said, you weren't the worst offendor, or even at all, but to be safe you should have ungrouped before going into the lair, or it's entrance.

Xanth, it isnt about you guys doing something wrong, its about you guys not listening to simple instructions.

If everyone thinks they "know better than me(and everyone i talked to before the actual event)" why should i/we bother trying to come up with a solution to kill him in the first place if ill just be ignored?

Dont get me wrong, im not blaming this on anyone but myself, cuz i really did some bad orders at the wrong time(got ld before i could correct it, sigh). But just do as you are told and things will be ALOT easier.

That goes for EVERYONE.

All in all, thanks for coming :)

Wasnt flaming, I just dont like being accused of something I never did, especially when it comes to "potentially" ruining the Dragon raid.

I REALLY enjoyed it, was an experience not to be missed (as far as gaming goes).
And im looking forward to the next 1.

There were quite a few people who didn't listen to instructions, but that's always going to happen. Interestingly enough, on the first attempt when the first AoE hit us, about 6 people moosed, but we didn't get AoE'd again. It's possible that moose doesn't trigger it at all.

That being said, there were one or two incidents of msgs popping of saying "<xxx> casts a spell!" where <xxx> wasn't a Naturalist, a couple of proc effects on the dragon and one void bolt that came out of nowhere.

Let's hope next time people actually listen to the instructions.

Awesome job tho, Nilj - we were so close - well done to everyone

A few things we noticed during the raid. Great try btw.

Two people had the impression that the dangerzone for AE either is slightly larger than the stone circle, or that the radius is around the dragon(that moves), and not within the lair(sounds pretty logical.)

Dragon only AE in front of him, so tanks spreading out on all sides is fine.

I am not very sure that Moose/proccing weapons matter. When we were suciding me and some other mages went _into melee range_ of dragon and nuked like hell - 100% spells were resisted - but no AE triggered. And I doubt any procs will manage to damage him. Perhaps its only spells from without the circle that triggers it... we just gotta figure out how :-

Everyone thnks more effort has to be put into clearing the adds next time. 80-100 ungrouped rangers and mages are much weaker than 2 good PBgroups. Idea could be to have 2-3 wardens selected that on arrival at the dragon start grouping rangers and PBmages and a ment or bard. These groups will get all the aggro so the rest of the solo mages/rangers can nuke the adds safely.

Note to rangers: if you go in to back up the tanks, don't bother with melee. I tried for a while with my shiny new homemade netherite dirks and couldn't even hit him (level 46 ranger). Make sure you are ungrouped and buffed before you enter the lair, and then run in and shoot him with your bow at point blank range. Duskwood recurve was doing about 20 damage per arrow to him, and I was able to do that for quite a while before he finally whomped me (I even survived the first 850-damage blow, and got in a few more hits before he finished me off).

Great raid

I had great fun!

Gj Niljindil

Though I got quite pissed at people who wouldn't listen at the rules. like 10 people where talking as Nilj. where telling everybody the rules.

I saw a bunch of people healing, running around with swords that procs etc. And much more that wasn't allowed :/ ..

But hey, we got him to 5 % ! next time we will take him !

I was on said raid and everything was goin nice and easy first aoe death ah well nm.

but ltr it went to shit, i saw a hero and ranger in the circle using his bow standing on a rock, also, i saw, 'the glimer king resists that spell effect'

now i dont now about u lot but we had some fools with us, who either didn't listen to the rules, dont speak english or are simply think.

shame cos we had him to 10% when i saw the spell message at which point all us tanks were aoe'd, thus ending the chances we had.

shame really cos we had him, if we can jus tidy up the loose ends next time we should be able to do him.

A well organised raid and thanx, my first dragon raid and i sat there for 5 mins reading the rules, shame others didn't.

Helkhor, the Ranger standing on the rock was there for most of the fight. He shot the dragon continuously without generating aggro and doing more damage than any of the tanks. According to the tests they did on the US servers, Rangers don't affect the fight at all, so maybe it was a good idea...

helkhor, i was on that rock once for the time it took me to release 6-8 arrows, that was the time it took me to make sure that i can't hit him sincei'm still to low...

and to make sure i don't get flamed for trying to do so, there were no adds at that time, i had a few looks out for them befor i entered the lair!since there was once a time when our ranger group had nothing to do for 5mins or so, cause apsolutly no adds where around to keel

nice pics btw and we'll get him next time for sure

What we learned from the 3rd charge on the second attempt (hehe) is fairly interesting; we where 3 casters that where spread out inside the lair, two of us out of melee range, one with pbaoe, and we didnt trigger the aoe once. Equally interesting to know is that we all drained our entire manapool and where resisted on every single nuke, while debuffs seemed to work.

Once his initial AOE is drained it does use quite a lot of time between proc's, and to be honest i think it will be impossible to avoid triggering it. Even IF we have the trigger-rules figured out (which ive started to doubt) its just a matter of a healer using MCL outside but having an unfortunate lagrun into the circle and kazam; we're toast.

If we just keep the triggers to a minimum like we did and keep a few more tanks back to deal with the adds i think we will kill it next time. As far as I know we didnt even drain initial AOE on the first attemt (I was standing in the back killing glimmers at the time they charged).

All in all, *great* effort from Nilj - thanx for going through all the trouble for us..

Next time we'll own him :)

The Germans on Avalon killed the Dragon and used nearly the same Tactics. No Magic at all,no damage adds like we did,no proccing weapons/armor,just rezzez and ungrouped Tanks.

The difference btw us and them was the numbers they got (290)

and they got about 150 ppl directly meeleing the Dragon(mages inclusive)

Thing I (and some others) noticed was:

The dragon seems to react to magic being used in an area around HIM, that means his AE can be triggered by any magic nearby, even outside of his lair, depending on how close he is to that side of the lair.
