Dragon Quest VIII : Journey of the Cursed King

OK so this game has been out for a while now (well it was released ages ago if you imported the Jap version).

Anyway, some kind soul bought it for me on my birthday.

I can't stress how good it is.

• Good solid story line
• Beautiful cell shaded graphics
• Good old style RPG
• Plays like Final Fantasy [great if your a fan, sucks if you aren't]

I think the main adventure takes about 50 - 60 hours to complete with around 40 hours of side quests.

10 hours in and I'm loving it. Not a massive RPG fan but this really has me hooked.

If you haven't bought it already, get yourself down to 'Independant Game Store 1' and pick yourself up a copy.

Ahh, I've been looking for a new RPG to get into. Might well investigate this.

I am so far behind these days it's awesome.

Three things I love about this game.

The British voiceovers - a real rarity.
The music is excellent.
IT ACKNOWLEDGES THE EXISTENCE OF THE SECOND MEMORY CARD SLOT, which I think calls for a 'hallelujah' or two.

By the way, can anyone tell me if there are any/many "lost-forevers" that I need to watch out for?

Looking at reviews the gfx style just doesnt look to my taste.

Ultimately though if the gameplay is good then i guess thats all that matters and i have to say, as someone who will play almost anything i have a real soft spot for traditional JRPG style games.

That said im playing through FF12 atm, being a latecomer and im spending every waking moment between coming in from work and bed playing it /o\
