Anyone go this year?

Had a fucking brilliant time, good music, good atmosphere, it rocked :)

Highlight was definitely 80,000 people singing Iron Maiden - Run to the Hills at the tops of their voices :)

Glad you had a good time

Very few reasons for me to go this year, seen most the bands i wanted to see and just cba, it's still my fav fest but i can't be doing it every year "Just because"

Next for me is Metalica at Wembly \o/

Heard MCR had to cut themselves short due to fear of Metal vs. Emo riots. That and get bottled at the start of their set :S.

No idea about that but a mate returning from from Korn said there weren't that many watching compared to the other headliners. I have no idea was too buisy watching Suicidal Tendancies and band I never particularly liked but an awesome gig none the less, thoughstill couldn't compare to Hayseed Dixie :)

Was a good weekend !

The massive crowd leaving the korn stage chanting "kill emos" may have had something to do with MCR finishing early :p

Couldn't get close enough to KoRn on Friday to hear anything (all we could hear was bass) so as we were wandering back to the tent we went past the main stage - actually stayed for most of the MCR set and tbh I really enjoyed it. I disagree with Livenation's lineup order (MCR shoulda headlined tent, Marilyn Manson shoulda headlined Friday backed up by KoRn, NO WAY should Evanescence opened for Iron Maiden etc), but MCR played a really good set, and trust me, I'm no emo :p

bah, doing that at a live gig is just bad behaviour imo, even tho im fan of their music they still deserve respect for what they do

lol thats awful, I'm not a big MCR fan but the rain of bottles was just disgusting. I think the event organisers can be to blame for it to be honest, It's the biggest Metal/Rock festival in England and they put an emo band as Headliners, to be honest some of their music is verging on Indie. They didn't deserve to be bottled but they also didnt deserve to be bottled.

The problem was, that the line-up was controlled by overall album sales. Not album sales to the demographic of people who go to Download. By that reasoning, if James Blunt was playing, he would have headlined

Was the same with Evanescence. Still, was a good festival :)

Machine Head were awsome as were Stone Sour, My Chem were boring and the lead singer man he can't half whine.

There were easily double the people to watch the opening band on Saturday morning than say My chem which really shows how much of a cock up putting them as headliners was.

Not going, but going to Rock Werchter tho

typical day at rock werchter last year :

-Wake up at 9 in the morning with the sun on your tent, verry hungover
-Ask yourself why you have paid €250 for this
-Start arguing with the guys who's round is it to get the beers
-Roll a splif
-Ask yourself again why you have paid €250 for this
-Pass out for a few hours
-Fill your cammel bag with your fav. alcohol
-Walk to the festival in the blistering heat
-Why did i pay €250 for this again?
-Get in, already to waisted to do anything
-Try to find some shade to have some food, find none
-More spliffs
-watch a band or 2, can't stand the heat, nearly die
-Crawl back to the camping
-nick someone's already cooked food
-More fights over who's turn for the beer, and who has to roll the spliff
-Pass out somewhere
-Wake up in the middle of the night in a verry sticky puddle of garbage
-Try to find your tent again

and repeat all the above the next day!

All great fun but i can do that in my own garden to :p Its just getting to expensive

Dour is gonna be a fine choise for a festival this summer in Belgium tho! and a day or 2 Pukkelpop never hurt either..

Was a great festival, highlights for me were Motley Crue, Buckcherry, Velvet Revolver, and manson oh and first band Zico Chain weret so bad. Worst i saw waas aiden and turbonegro. Maiden were good but borders on ultra cheesey would prefer motley on the headline on sunday night. However the download discharge night on Thursday was a treat if anyone watched it. Her boobs must have hurt :puke: As for the scottish munters on yellow 1 campsite ........

you know, its not mandatory to get so wasted that you cant do anything :) as you said, you can do that in your own garden, hows about enjoying the festival with moderate amounts of alcohol
