Doomsday

No this is not another post about the Nostradamus (sp?) bloke.

Does anyone else remember the Doomsday project which the BBC carried out in the mid eighties? It involved data collection over the whole country, facts, figures, graphs, pictures etc and they were all stored on a big double-sided laser disk.

Many a quiet evening I spent at my local college wandering through the 'virtual' countryside, visiting places I'd been to in real life. Sad, I know.

I thought about this a few weeks ago and wondered whether is was available on CD. However, after contacting the BBC's education services, they said
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR> It was so long ago that the data has been lost<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
So sad, that a project which was designed to show our childrens children etc.. how we live was lost after 15 odd years!
