Have on pre order also :) Ordered new pc parts last night getting geforce 6800 and athlon 64 3200+ nw mobo 1gb ram etc ! :) i feel you need a uber pc to run it.

Multiplayer wise they just confirmed its going to be cilent/server. But outta the box it will be limited to 4 players (2v2 duel FFA etc :) Seeing its cilent server thoguh hopefully osp or someone will take it up and make it proper multiplayer. I expect they will.

Cant wait !

k8n mobo meant to be the best nforce 3 250gb chipset mob around atm. Think release date is augest the 6th. I saw that game have it down as 13th too. Maybe because theirs is special edition or smt ? fancy box :)

ID have said :
Internationally, the game will take a few more days to make it to the store shelves. The UK will probably get it first, on or about August 6th

If uk stores get it around the 6th it will come out on the friday, if not because of pc games only coming out on fridays will be the 13th :(.

Special reserve have it listed as the 6th .. thats where I've got it on pre order from as they normally deliver on release day or early .. good price too :)

Anyone know how big the game is? Want to download :p
6 cd's. Dont download though .. buy it fs :) all ID games deserve money. I only download games that i would never normally buy .. as carmack is my god i will always buy their games.

Dont expect a warez version any time soon either, rumour has it doom 3 is using starforce 3 cd protection (not cracked yet after being out 4 months or maybe never to be cracked as the system makes a CD key based upon how the CD is written)

:)

I do not care about radeons though, not my type and i do not like the drivers much i have always prefered nvidia, both are good just a case of preferance. Both cards will run game good though if you got a 3ghz+ proccessor and 1gb+ ddr ram.

Might go back to athlon though due to the prices since i am getting a new motherboard, yeah was thinking MSI one, just got to find one that supports 3gb ram max and high end athlons.(do not have much experience in motherboards so can't find a suitable one for this xE)

I ordered a limited edition version not sure what's different about it.Shame you need a 512ddr gfx card to run the game to it's best quality which will not be out for 6 months or so maybe.

:) I ordered my stuff from overclockers.co.uk also .. top site been reading their forums alot. Like you say seems all GT's do ultra speed outta the box. So thats why i went for that, was going to get a x800 pro vivo and mod it to x800 xt but why bother when u can clock a GT to ultra speeds :) I think doom 3 will need ps 3.0 too? If not ps 3.0 yet no doubt a patch will take advantage of it.

Nvidia after all are sponsering doom 3.

Cpu wise im looking to get 2500mhz outta it atleast, ive bought 1gb of hyperX pc4000 from usa for £170overclockers.co.uk have it listed for £320. Saw a thing on hardcorps or somehwere they took a 3200 overclocked it and it was running faster then a 3800 +. quite nice.

I was going to get a socket 939 one .. as they support dual channel memory mode, but so much more expensive atm ;) Going to use money to buy some decent surround sound speakers instead as doom 3 ofc supports that.

i take it ps3.0 = pixel shadin 3, if so then that wont be used for 1-2yrs down the line, as both x800 and 6800 cards were reviewd in this month PC mag they say all the added bonuses off a 6800 card like ps3.0 will not even be used.

Sorry man thats not right .. farcry is using ps 3.0 now .. updated in last patch. Games in a month or 2 will be using it. Dont believe all you read. Anyway ps 3.0 offers no visional improovements is only performance improvements. Do a search on google for farcry 1.2 pixel shader 3.0.

Aria have Creative Soundworks 6700 6.1 speakers at 54 GBP

I got them, and i love them :O

Im very tempted by the GT, i prefer Nvidia to ATI.. no im not a fanboi, as my last 2 cards have been ATI.. what concerns me is the 480 Watt power requirement and the two power connectors..

I have a DVD Burner, CD Burner, 2 WD Raptors and a Maxtor Porn Drive... dont think i got enough juice :l

I got a 480watt unit from overlockers for £55 i think or around that, have 4 fans running now and a new case which was £101 from there too(coolermaster) , you going to need that PSU sooner or later anyway really.

Got me a Enermax Noisetaker 470W ATX 1.3, not quite 480W, but it has dual 12V rails, so i'm hoping its gonna be enough if i get fed up waiting for my XT :l

PSU-wise you can't beat the Antec Truepower series, they are the most stable PSU around at the moment. They pioneered seperate rails for each output 4 years ago and they are a very quiet PSU as well. Far quieter than Enermax/Coolermaster/Thermaltake/Zalman.

Well as many have said before Quakeworld > all and quake 1 was as little made for online multiplayer as doom 3 is. So hopefully it will turn out same would be very uber if it does.

Like i said i just hope rhea of OSP and arqon of cpma take it up early anmd get some modding going, as they can increase the 4 player limit. Was also some talk long ago, think it was in a gamespy ID interview where robert duffy said they may release a expansion focusing on multiplayer.

Looking forward to Doom 3.

Liked the original Doom, but not Doom 2. Didn't like Quake but liked Quake 2 and not Quake 3. To stick to an FPS I need a story for solo play. Lots of fun at LAN parties (or Doom Nights as we always call them in homage to the grandaddy of them all) with Q3 and UT of course but thats the only time I get interested.

Getting a ridiculous spec PC which should handle it ok. 3.6GHz P4 Hyperthreading, ATI X800, 2GB RAM, latest Audigy etc and will tweak it a bit after I get it with some more nice bits.

Favourite mod ever for a game was Mutually Assured Destruction for Quake where you ran around and all weapons became rocket launchers, just with different wacky warheads. Second place to either Catch The Chicken or Kill The King (one guy became Elvis with the best weapon and everyone else had to try and kill him. When you got him you got a message saying Elvis has left the building. Fantastic fun) :)

Yeah, noticed that GAME have it set for the 13th, but, going by experience, they tend to not actually know anything about release dates unless it's on their shelf ;)

Been looking forward to this game since rumours first said it was being made, so that's a good 2-3 years lol

I'm hoping that my Barton 2500+@3200 will be enough, along with the 2gig DDR400 and the 9800 Pro, otherwise I'll just have to spend the money I've been saving for a new car lol

Snoz: nVidia also sponsored FarCry, it is in their "The way it's meant to be played" range of games, along with UT2k4, however the ATi cards have out-performed the nVidia ones on nearly all the benchmarks I've seen on those games. However, nVidia cards have the capability to run slightly better visual effects compared to the ATi, so it's a choice between slightly better looking games, or slightly higher framerate. After the initial run through on a game though, once you're used to the eye-candy, the multiplayer environment will be less effects and more speed, I used to play Q3A when it first came out with everything turned off, 2D icons etc. just to get an extra 15-20 fps out of the Voodoo 2 to enable faster responses. I feel ATi will be winning that for me, personal opinion though going by performance reviews.

RRP in the UK, according to Amazon, is £44.99, which is way too damn steep for my liking, and rumour has it that Doom 3 will be released in EU as a DVD format, even though it isn't being released that way in the US, so hopefully that will be true, games that size should be released on DVD, bit like when stupid Publishers insisted on releasing games on 10+ 3.5" floppys when CDs were available, and unlike 10 years ago, most people have a DVD drive now (when CD drives weren't all that common 10 yrs ago).

System Requirements (that I could find, once again from Amazon):

Windows 2000/XP
Pentium IV 1.5 GHz or Athlon 1500+
384MB RAM
3D hardware Accelerator Card Required – 100% DirectX 9.0b compatible
64MB Hardware Accelerated video card and the latest drivers*.
8x Speed CD-ROM drive (1200KB/sec sustained transfer rate) and latest drivers
2.2GB of uncompressed free hard disk space (plus 400MB for Windows® swap file)
100% DirectX® 9.0b compatible 16-bit sound card and latest drivers
100% Windows® 2000/XP compatible mouse, keyboard and latest drivers
DirectX 9.0b (included)

MULTIPLAYER REQUIREMENTS:
Internet (TCP/IP) and LAN (TCP/IP) play supported
Internet play requires broadband connection and latest drivers
LAN play requires network interface card and latest drivers

Well, gonna pencil in a full Windows re-install and defrag the drives before I install this game, UT2k4, FarCry, DeusEX: I.W and Doom 3 on the same drive should take up about 12gig with saved games and mods lol

Also, Roo, turn of Hyperthreading on your CPU when you get it, HTT is Intels way of making people think they are getting a good deal, when they are actually getting a vastly inferior CPU. With HTT on, you get less total clock cycles compared to it turned off.
