Ok another how do i do it post. Ive got a few console commands for BF, but whenever i rejoin a game I have to re-enter them all. No fun. Is there (or more likely where is there) a file to put em in ? Can I make an autoexec file ? if so where do I put it ? Or is there a command to make it stick, like seta in q3 ?
Whenever i play this game I end up leaving the server frustrated, but I keep coming back for further punishment so it cant be all bad :)
Thanks for any help btw .

Heh i try to play it, but theres always lag or some other shite which ends up making me leave.
But then I come back a few weeks later, to try again . Its a bit of a thing with me, i have rtcw, sof2, q3, RA3,dod, cs, half life,UT and operation Flashpoint all loaded on me pc, i like all of them to be patched properly, and to be set up how I like em so that when I want to play summat I can. All are currently spot on and i happy with everything except... you guessed it :) Soooo, here I am hoping for a reply ! You never know, if it worked nicely I may even play it !
Basically, I want to be able to have the fps capped so that it runs smooth at 60 fps or whatever, plus a few other things like showfps and what have you. But i dont want to type them in every time I start a game :/

In your settings folder there is a generalOptions.con file, try putting the settings there

I'm not actually sure how the thing works, you're better off speaking to Elhana as she's had a play with the scripting

I haven't really, I just had a look through to see how it worked and if I could make a comms script from it.

O well didnt work unfortunately, however turning off shadows was one of the things I wanted to do , and I hadnt noticed you can do that in video options, so thats something.
What I really want to do is limit fps , on my pc it goes from 90 to 50 in places, which I hate. I really like things to be smooth, so i wanted to limit fps to 60 or something like that.
On a different tack I tried moving the resolution down from 800-600 to 640-480 yesterday to see wether it would be smoother, it was but for some reason the whole picture moved to the left by about 30%, so the same percentage of my screen was black :/

Here goes....

via some advice from Elhana and my own top secret experiments i can now present to the world.................

Ralph's Effertless BF1942 Framerate Limiter (patent pending)

As u probably know the command is renderer.lockfps ##

This needs to be put in the common.con file which can be found here - battlefield1942/settings/profiles/custom (or whatever u called it) / controls.

Said command needs to be placed in the Additional Variables section.

HOWEVER, if u change your config in the game menu it will overwrite it, also i have tried putting other commands there but they dont seem to work.

Dont know about the resolution thing tho.
