What a complete and utter waste of money,
no storyline progression at all ,
Starts off with the vortagons (sp?) saving you, not explained how or why. You escape the citadel and then the game ends..
The vast majority being cut-scenes and dialogues with people, in reality if you cut out all the bits where you really wish you could kill your allies and steal their kit so you can open a door without being driven to poking yourself with a crowbar while you wait for the cumbersome dialogue to end, the game can be completed in 1 hr max, as it happens the dialogue pushes this to 2 and a half hrs

In short it is not worth £20, save your money for another months daoc subs :p

Correction, you escape the citadel and city 17 :p
I thought it was a fun play. and also now they focus on releasing hl2 as many episodes so it's meant to be short. And also it's fairly cheap

3 eps @ £20 = 1 full game = £60 = more money for the same content :<

Oh yes, pile of shite, just like HL2. The episodes are just another cash in by Valve as they know all the moronic HL2 fanboi's would rob thier grannies to play another couple of levels on that clusterfuck of a game.

Valve need serious help, they can't write and clear and logical script to save thier lives. They took thier legendary franchise and flushed it down the shitter when they came up with the story for HL2 and EP1 is no damn better.

Meh i actually quite liked it, Level design really was fantastic and while the story was short and non too origional you could do far worse for a quick fix of gaming fun.

Personally whilst the story of hl2 ep1 was shit and the storyline did nothing, the game itself was actually quite good, and well worth my 20 notes :cough: :)

However at the end of it it shows the teaser for ep2, which looks alot better. but agreed with the £14 for 3 hours play, may aswell get hitman and spend that on each level

he's entitled to his opinion :p
i personally think the enviroment of doom 3 was better for the first few levels, but then it just got repetative (jsut like the first 2 so cant really complain)

HL2 i found very easy, it had it's moments such as defend the village, and taking out the things from war of the worlds, but the majority was just same old for the most part and the story line wasnt really anything special. i couldnt play it more than once tbh, takes a very special game to warrant that and unfortunately in my eyes HL2 wasnt it.
In comparison i found FEAR to be very challenging in comparison to todays arsenal of games, but the storyline was dull making the whole game rather tedious towards the end.

Your probably going to laugh but i found American McGee's Alice to be a very good game, it was different and put a sinister twist, and the best FPS of all time Alien versus Predator original, the first game to genuinley keep me hooked for hrs. Playing as a Marine on directors cut with the lights off and feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end as you treck through corridoors emersed with the beep beep beep of the motion tracker and your footsteps.
Cant wait for Halo 3 as the first 2 were pretty good

Damn shame games companies are so afraid to do something different and out of the norm, as the best titles are usually the ones that do

I think FarCry is far better than HL2 and Doom3, and graphics quality is light years better too

At least hl2 had a story line and script.. the only thing I got out of doom 3 was "shoot shit" :p

Open your eyes and ears more then you thick fucker :p HL2's script was utterly dire and it all lead to a huge anti-climax of an ending as well. All the whining in the world from you won't change that :p

The whole idea was that it had an anti climax, as it's "unfinished" due to the episode based game that it now is
