Hmpfh.

I love this film to bits, its a bit "different", watched it recently for the second time (on DVD) after seeing it at the cinema originally.

Watched it with 2 female friends (no sniggering at the back please) who both said..."so in the end the film is for nothing and we just watched something that didnt happen so whats the point of the film?"

ARGH ffs...numpties!

IIRC it didnt too well both in the US or here. Bah no accounting for taste.

If anyone could tell me of anything similar to this flick that I could grab on DVD please go for it :)

I bought the DVD and watched a few days ago.

I found this film to be very weird...

I did enjoy it but I wasnt absorbed into it like I am in other films.
I dont know what it is but I felt there was something missing.

Perhaps I had trouble identifying with the main character...I dont think they explained him well enough...

One of the best films of all time imo.

There truly is nothing else like it.

Its got a shite title and a shite cover, I was expecting it to be a Scream rip-off(which I hate) just because of the cover. Thank god Leggy pestered me into watching it.

He's called Donnie Darko because it's supposed to be like a superhero name. He does save the world and/or universe after all.

It didn't do well in the US and therefor didn't recieve a cinema release over here (until recently). When it was discovered in the UK i believe it was recieved very well and thus got a limited cinema release.

Classic film.

Don't expect a conventional film here though. I would say it was less accesible the Donnie and is a head fuck in its purest form :)

And yes, mulholland dr. is a severe headfuck. You won't understand what the hell it was about after one viewing, but read stuff about it.. like theories and what not.. very interesting.

Isn't Mulholland Drive a David Lynch film? If so I definitely don't expect a mainstream flick (THANK GOD :)).

In the directors/writers commentary he says that he left the film open to different view points, he wanted people to talk about what it all meant. I enjoy this type of conversation , it makes the films worth watching.



Anyways, all I was saying was that the cover put me off the film.;)

The book written by the weird old lady said that split off universes cannot survive long and they just like, die. Donnie fixed this. He saved the universe dude!

He let himself get killed to avoid a certain chain of events. The chain of events he would cause if he was alive. He therefore saves a lot of deaths.

Yes, there is that. But he also saved the universe from collapse. It's not just that he stopped frank getting shot etc.

I thought it was a great film, my favourate bit was in the Cinema, I thought that was beautifully done.

If you like David Lynch films you have to see Blue Velvet (stunning), and The Straight Story (beautiful)

Man, I love the straight story.

The shots of the US are fantastic.
