So I went for a blood test this morning because apparently the docs is worried about my blood pressure, weight and stuff, combined with the medication I'm on.

And I was all scared and thinking bleh. So I said to the nurse, eww I hate needles, don't hurt me. And she looks at my tattoos and goes... hmmm....

Doh.

Aww :fluffle:

Thing about tattoos is, you don't have a FUCKING GREAT NEEDLE being stabbed directly into your veins to suck your blood out into the glass syringe...just 7 small needles pricking your skin rapidly to ink it.

Silly nursey...

tattoing is by far more painful than medical needles... apart from when I had 3 innoculations in the same needle and the nurse pushed the point of the needle down to the bone in my arm.... Although that wasn't actually as bad as the 4.5 hours of tattoing across my spine and shoulderblades...

Although saying that phobias are irrational on the whole. I used to hate needles being used for medical reasons until I was in hospital last year when i had so many put in me that I just got over it... But even when scared of needles for medical procedures I was happy to get a needle pushed through my knob for a piercing.....

Lol Yaruar, so true. I'm happy to sit for hours and hours while someone sits there and carves pretty patterns into me, but to have tubes of blood sucked out through my veins, well, eugh!

Gotta wait a week for the results, eugh.

Yup. Certainly is. However, it's not as bad as a lot of people make out. I think the whole needle phobia thing is odd, too - but people have it. Confrontational therapy (like your needle invasion last year, but without the actual stabbing) is probably the best way around it. I had a mate that hated needles, but after getting used to being around them he was fine.

I also think that it's to do with which side of the needle you're on - are there any nurses or doctors you know of with needle phobia?

As for knob piercings...I'll pass. Just stick to tattooing - they're addictive, need to get my next one done. Just can't afford the 200 notes it'll cost.
