I'm sure tomato soup stays hotter longer than say vegetable or chicken soup. Like I'm thinking it must be cooled down enough by now, then burn my mouth because it isn't.

I'm wondering if it stays hotter because there's no bits in it, and/or that it's sort of a thickish paste so retains heat better than more watery soups, which I guess would heat up quicker but also cool down quicker?

Anyway, has anyone alse noticed this or is it just me being a spaz?

Tomatoes can get hotter, if i'm nto completely mistaken, it's all about the water.

Now if the whole soup is tomato, it's like a bowl of hot water :p

I'm quite sure it's about the water content of an incredient that defines how fast it cools down.

it's probably more to do with density, which i slinked to water content - the closer to pure water a soup is, the denser (and therefore more of it) it is.

I would also suggest that tomatoes contain a fair amount of sugar, which may well get hotter than many other ingredients in the first place...

Plus, tomatoes are quite red - which is a hot colour.

Hope this helps.

I think tomato soup is quite hot, but I also find leek and potato very attractive

The reason I am asking about the type of tomatoes is because it has been reported that tomatoes and potatoes can kill and subsequently absorb insects. In Spain they have some very mean insects with 3 foot stingers and stuff. If a tomato eats one of them....

If only I could get my hands on their thesis, my life would be enhanced a fraction. Do you happen to know how shiny their spoon was?
