...when you get a half-decent video card?

I'm currently playing bf1942 with a GeForce (ie. not, 2 or 3 or 4 or 5!) video card/2.53GP4/512MB.

Now I know that the video card is well below what is needed and I plan to get a top-of the-range ATI or nVidia card shortly. But I was wondering what the game plays like with some decent hardware.

I mean subjectively, not FPS, Does it feel smooth? Did your frags improve dramatically when you upgraded? Etc..

no, it didnt for me.

it did, however, get nuff more smoother when i learnt how to cap my fps at 60

me upgraded from a geforce 2 to a geforce fx 5200, everything improved and my kill count went up as I could go head first into big battles without worry of slow-down, instead of hanging back and giving support to everybody else by driving the truck to all who needed health ammo pick-up.

I stopped playing BF et al, a while back due to my GF2U not being able to cope with with any settings other than the bare minimum (even then it wasn't smooth).

Since I upgraded to a GF4 4800 (not the SE, but the updated 8x AGP 4600 version), it's been a hell of a lot smoother and that's will all the settings turned back up to max.

BF/DC is actually enjoyable to play once again for me now

just upgraded to a radeon 9600pro 128meg ddr... BIG difference from GF2, but the athlon 1gig and 256meg mem still leaves it jerking and stuttering when entering a new area... hence just ordered asus a7n8x nforce 2 mobo, Athlon XP 2500+ barton core and 2x 256meg crucial 2700 mem

all for a frikken game

oh and yeah, 4x AA in 1024x768 on CTX LCD monitor is something to behold!!
