Does stealth + items above ur lvl give u any advantage?

recently had a discussion with a m8 regarding the stealthskill and all if you gained any advantage when u overspecc it with the help of items. Now the explanation i've read from mythic if my memory serves me right is..

say you are a lvl40 stealther with ur stealthskill at your lvl. and assume you have items that give u +4 stealth (giving u a total of 44 stealth). now what i've heard is that your stealthskill is compared to the enemy players lvl and for every point that dffers between ur stealthskill and his lvl, that is in his favor, he vill see you at minimum detectrange + 50 loc-units/point in his advantage.

My question is. however... assume this lvl40 stealther meets with another lvl40 nonstealther, the nonstealther will then see the stealther at minimum detect range, but assume you run into a higher lvl character.. say you run into a lvl44 character.. will my +stealth items make the lvl44 character see me at minimum detect range or not?

guess you could rephrase my question as: do +stealth make me harder to detect for higherlvl characters?

just curious as my m8 i was discussing this with said that +stealth items only helpped as long as your skill was under your lvl.

Well don't quote me on it but I'd assume that if you ran into a lvl 44 character with 40+4 stealth it would be the same as running into another lvl 40 character with just your base skill on (i.e 40 stealth but no +stealth items or bonus).

Basically in the example you quoted it would mean that the lvl 44 has NO advantage points from his level - your stealth skill (44 -40 -4 = 0) so he would just have a detect range of the minimum + 50/advantage which in this case is 0 = minimum range only (could explain better but not going to )

If you ran into a lvl 50 character though I'd interpret it as 50 -40 -4 = 6, therefore his detect range on you would be "minimum range + 50 units per advantage (50u x 6=300) = minimum range + 300 units.

Without your +4 items/RR bonus he would detect you inside minimum range + 500 units so you can pass a fair bit closer to him/her without risk of getting caught with the +4

It does affect your stealth, but it's capped at 50. So if you have 50 Stealth specced, it's as good as 38+12. 46+12 will NOT give you any advantages though, it'll be treated aas if you had 50 Stealth.

i heard recently that stealth points over 50 should increase movement speed while stealthed. can anyone confirm that?

Dos'nt, i tested it with another shade and to me there seems absoluty no differance.

Stealth over your level helps, yes, against people over your level.

Which means, it wont help at all once you are 50

(if you dont want the explanation then dont read the things i say below this)

ps. ignore the people who reply to the thread, they dont know squat. It is like that, they dont get detected because there is a 3 sec update timer that checks if someone can see you, which means not only does they have to be in range(150, which is DAMN small btw) but they have to be lucky and have the stealth timer "tick" too.

And yes this means a level 1 char with 1 stealth will be detected just as easily with as a level 50 with 1 stealth. And thats how it should work imo

With my now RIP nightshade i tested this out in the bg and i didnt find any proof at all saying this is faulty in any way. I saw rangers from MILES away(even if they had almost 20 stealth) and infils saw me from quite far away as well(only had 21 myself) but a blue mage couldnt see me unless i stood still inside them for a longer-than-lining-up-PA-period.
